Best Magica Sorceror Set *Now*?

I've searched through a bunch of the forums but I'm no longer sure what's bloody out of date or not. I did also look at the online guides, but I felt like there's no room for discussion when I read those, so I wanted to ask the community, what do you folks recommend for cp200 when it comes to magica sorceror sets? I'm working up to a Julianos set, but it's not freaking cheap(this is my first and only toon, so no secondary crafter, etc). I think I'm going to go farm Mothers Sorrow and Willpower and then transition into Julianos as timing allows. Or is that a stupid plan?

Any info or crits are welcome!

    Sounds like a good plan.

Gear grinding in this game is fairly easy, compared to other MMOs.

PVE or PVP is the first question.

For PVE, Siroria and BSW are still solid. If you want more sustain for solo content, False God and BSW will suit you well. If you are looking for starter sets, Julianos and BSW is also a really strong combo.

For PVP, it really depends on what playstyles. I am personally planning on either going super tanky with Fortified Brass and Impreg or going the extreme other route with Kags, Julianos and Balorgh and forgoing tankiness altogether for 5K spell damage. Haven't decided yet. But a solid middle ground is something like Bright Throat, Spinners (Or Alfiq) and Bloodspawn.

I mostly run solo and also use a pet. I play both PVE and PVP equally. I kind of have an all around solo build that works with my play style.
I have tried several different sets but have always gone back to Julianos and Necropotence.

False God's Devotion is nice, but., yeah, Juli+Necropotence is hard to beat. I run Necro+Lich on my pet Sorc, but that's for PvP.

If you have summerset then farm siroria it is quick , cheap and ez to get Cuz lots of people farming.
If you want to go 5-5-2 way then get a monster set maybe illambris or slimcraw or skoria.
Mother's Sorrow has a lightning staff as quest reward if you can afford jewellery.
And if you need help in crafting I can do that if you have mats.

    Monster set: Zaan/Grothdarr/Valkyn Skoria
    Body: Necropotence/Burning Spellweave/Julianos
Jewelry and Inferno Staff: Mother's Sorrow/Siroria/False god

    backbar: maelstrom lightning/inferno

For PvE, I generally use Zaan, Necro and MS. Replacing Zaan with Grothdarr for vMA only.

For battlegrounds, I replace backbar lightning staff with a MS ice staff, and impen body pieces instead of divines.

P.s, I can solo the sload boss (B'Korgen?) in Summerset if I put on falsegod, that's the sort of unlimited sustain it gives.

    Sorc (non pet)

Juli + mother sorrow / spinners + slimecraw + lover / mage mundus == solid dmg | easy starter build

False God + mother sorrow + 1pc slimecraw + 1pc Zaan, weapon dmg enchant on back bar + shadow mundus == awesome dmg + sustain.

Woah, apologies all, I'm new to the forum and for some reason am not getting e-mail notifications to replies, didn't realize there were so many!

Thank you everyone for your feedback, this is a solid community!

To answer a few questions(and also things I should have mentioned initially):

I'm looking at both PvE and PvP, long term though PvP, since that's where I find the game most rewarding.

Playing a Magica Sorceror but no pets, so maiwen85's suggestion seems right up my allie.

I'm on the PS4 NA playing with my gf and another buddy, we all started about a month and a half ago, really enjoying it.

I've screengrabbed the suggestions and will start farming Siroria first, then go to Mothers Sorrow or Necropotence, depending on which is easier to acquire and then Julianos, from there I'll balance out as I need to. As for Monster sets, I tried getting Zaan last night, it was a humiliating fail, and that was on Normal, but the other ones seem more doable. Ilambris I already have but just in medium, I need either light or heavy, so I'll have to keep farming for that, but at least I know I can do the Vet Dungeon.

Again, thanks everyone! Right now my set is all over the place, I was basically just throwing something on whenever the "green" numbers were better than the "red" numbers ;P So this will help a lot.

I don't do MagSorc so I won't chime in on your actual question (boooo I know :) ), but I just want to tell you: start crafting. Your future self is begging you right now. Start researching, do it on your main. The absolute freedom that comes with having crafted sets at your fingertips makes the difference between 'crafted sets are expensive' and 'crafted sets are the cheap, fast option'.

...That aside, try to find a crafter through zone chat, or a guild that helps newcomers. There are plenty of people who will craft you this stuff for cheap, or just the cost of mats.

Agreed, I've come to realize this the last couple of days and am now just farming up some of my skill points to put into crafting lines. Thanks for the words of wisdom!

Thanks for the offer R34alin, are you on the PS4 NA? Is there a place online that tells ya what materials are needed to craft the set? I'm googling but alas I'm not findings.

@rasdasa Just wanted to say good luck! Remember to do the dungeon quests and public dungeon group events for easy skill points. Crafting does take a lot. :expressionless:
I do wish you were on PC so I could just take you through Scalecaller. ID It's one of my favs. But it'll also be much easier to do once you have gear ready! As long as you don't have a monster set at all, you can also run two pieces of a random set or two pieces of random monster sets where the bonuses are in your favor. ^^

Pvp has tons of options, so dont feel you have to run one set up or just follow 1 youtuber.

    1. People either go for something with armor such as armor master backbar and dmg set. Idea is buff pen resitance which is added to shields. Less resources and doesnt hit as hard though.

    2. High sustain backbar set such as lich, dmg set. Mobility and positioning is important with these builds.

    3. Stam regen sets to add dodge roll. I run amber and shackle and have enough stam to dodge roll and block (dodge is stronger than shields)

    4. You will want to generally go impen, or at least on big pieces and suggest ateast two tri stat.
    5. Helm, up to you. 1 vs 1, bgs, i like to have shadowren for minor maim. Do you ride zergs or bomb groups, go offensive sets, small groups, go sustain or bloodspawn.

Next patch will add new options for play as well. May be able to stack more dots then just playing burst

Thank you Raisin, looking forward to finally being able to gear up and deal with it proper ;) Yeah, so far I'm going to aim for Ilambris and see if I can manage mana count. Cheers!

So many great tips, I’m more solo or a small group, so I’ll be aiming more for sustain. Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

If you’re aiming for sustain, seducer is a decent go to, combine with juli and 2pc torugs. All are crafted. It’s a good starting place for solo and small group pve.

I’d suggest head and shoulders torugs so you can easily replace with monster set, weapons and jewellery seducer, to replace with zone or dungeon set, body Julianos which you’ll likely use for a good while and eventually replace with a trial or dungeon set.

You can plan your build here and get some good ideas:

Not litch ( Shroud of the Lich is a light armor set. When you cast an ability while under 33% Magicka, your Magicka Recovery is increased by 1032 for 20 seconds. This effect can occur every 1 minute.) Vestments of the Warlock is a light armor set. When you fall below 25% Magicka, restore 11350 Magicka. This effect can occur once every 45 seconds.
A Stamina version of this set (Trappings of Invigoration) drops in Fang Lair.is a better set.
