Normal DLC Dungeons and New Players

Currently ZOS has a CP cap of 300 for veteran DLC dungeons and L45 for normal DLC dungeons. The L45 cap for normal DLC dungeon is fine for players that know how the game mechanics work, but for players that are absolutely new to the game and are leveling their very first character even normal DLC dungeons can be a nightmare.

Case in point, today I queued for a random normal on my tank and got nFV (frostvault) and my party had L46, L47, L49 players. One DD had S&B and the other one had a Bow, both were light attacking, puncturing (stealing taunt) and doing things that might be okay for overland content, but not in nFV. It turns out that everyone is a new player. I tried my best to explain some mechanics like interruption, blocking and other things but we were repeatedly wiping at the first boss. I was really short of time and had to leave the group.

IMO DLC dungeons should be locked for new accounts until CP 160 atleast, by this time the players have a basic sense of the mechanics and gameplay that are needed to navigate through DLC dungeons. (I am not blaming the players at all, I was in their shoes while leveling my first toon too and I would have failed miserably as well)

Oh definitely agreed. I was leveling my tank when I encountered a level 48 signed up as a healer... Was actually a second tank, no restoration skills to speak of.

I tried to gently suggest they requeue as tank and got an earful about how they were doing both roles.
*slams a gallon of Respecting Support Roles juice on the table* Take a sip, babes.

Frostvault is just an awful dungeon. So you are right not to blame that hellish mess on newer players.

So I would say the problem isn't really the players when it comes to these new DLC dungeons. It's the fact they are just lazily designed with a lot of instant kill gimmicks and trial and error game play. Anyone - even a seasoned player - is likely going to get killed in these dungeons the first time they do them unless they research the place first.

Hopefully these new dungeons coming out will have a different design theme to them. Otherwise I'll be keeping my money on those as well. Because I play games to have fun - not to be annoyed and frustrated by stupid gimmicks and mini games. And judging by how long it takes me to get into a queue for them - even as a Tank - I'd say I'm not nearly the only one.

I think that part of the issue is that there is little "training" for DLC dungeons.
In normal standard dungeons you can pretty much stand in stupid (red) and not be too impacted.
There is very little in the way of mechanics to learn.

DLC dungeons you can not afford to stand in stupid and you need to learn the mechanics.
I would say minimum CP 160; but my level 45 on my main account has CP 800+ but not enough skyshards to open skill lines or assign full skill points; linking to CP alone is not enough.
