More NB tank options YES - but why so clunky?

I think its great that the NB gets more tanking options...but why are all the tank-ish skills so clunky and niche to use?
I really wish the NB tank would play a bit more straight forward like the Dark Templar from Age of Conan (which i always thought of as the same kinda) where you sacrifice your own health to bolster your team mate and sap the enemies health to bolster your own...
For example sacrificing health to give party members min/maj courage or similar things...this would not only fit the NB, be fun/interesting to do but it would also introduce unique buffs/skills fun to use...
All the adaptions to make skills more tanky feel like trying to do a split that doesnt really work or support the theme rather than clearly decide which morphs should be stam dd, mag dd or tank
