I was doing the Dark Anchors daily in Shadowfen (Leafwater Dolmen, I think). I was solo-questing, waited for a good 10 mins but no other player showed up so the heck with it, I just attacked the cultists myself, winging it lols. Managed to get to the last part before the last monster, and I needed to destroy the four diamond-shape stone thingy. At this point I noticed a player going to one of it and I was relieved because I know for sure I couldn't face the last monster. But s/he just stood there beside it, like waiting for me to destroy it.

So I did. The last monster showed up and s/he helped me kill it - looked so easy for him / her :D When the rewards dropped, s/he didn't even go to it and just walked away. I didn't get to say thank you because I was on console and still new at it so I tried to bring up the emote screen, at the same time thought maybe I should add him / her to my friends list, but before I could decide, s/he was gone.

I noticed s/he was a CP810 and I'm sorry I didn't get the gamertag / character name, so if you are reading this, thank you for your help, I appreciated it <3 I will try my best to help other players as well, and I'm going to learn how to emote from now on :D

If you close the pins ( even with monsters still around ) it will kill them and then spawn the final boss, I do this when I can't be arsed killing them all

It wasn't me (I'm around 730CP), although I have also done that many a time. I also usually check on people when they are battling somebody/thing, if they aren't in the CP's yet and their health bar looks bad, I'll lend a hand. I had so many unknown 'heroes' help me when I was leveling up, and I like to pay it forward :)

Always nice to help out a new player.

I dont understand adding random players to your friends list though. Ive had a few run up to me and then ding, so and so added you to their friends, and i just look at them like, "i'm just passing through?".

Hi @D0PAMINE, I'm actually in 2 guilds, however I haven't had any interaction with a member since I joined. Maybe because I do only solo-questing, and with the time difference I don't get to see them online :D if there is a guild for kiwis, I'd deifnitely join haha

Hi @JamieAubrey, I tried by myself but most of the time I couldn't shake them long enough before I could destroy all :D

Kia ora and g'day @TwinkleNoze! I do that too. I usually try my best to stay away / stand there just watching, unless I see their health gets low then I would gladly assist. I plan on paying it forward as I level up as well :) Are you from NZ?

Hi @ArchMikem, when I started playing, after a player grouped with me, I definitely thought it would be polite to add to my friends list :D I guess it's just natural for some, but I stopped doing that. However if anyone adds me, I would usually accept lols

That's a really heartwarming story! I love hearing about players helping players.

Personally if I see someone struggling with some content, I am generally more than happy to spend a few mins helping out.

I have also simply been asked by low ranking players to help them clear content, presumably because I am high CPs, and often I will help clear that delv, story, world boss, dolmen etc, its fun to help people. I am sure I am not the only one, so more folk should ask for help when they need it :)

I remember the first time I soloed a dolmen and it felt great! Wait till you start soloing world bosses and dungeons, great sense of achievement!

If I pass by an anchor and I see someone there I just help him/her, specially if I notice he/she is a lower level char.
I don't even care about the pinions, so I just wait for him/her to close them. Jewelry that drops is enough as a reward. :)

    Do this all the time.

Even tho others have repeatedly not shown my alts the same consideration. I only do achievs on my main so I don't actually care, but it's the pricipal! LOL

It's actually nice when I do show up on an alt and we all (prob all alts) stand around waiting for someone else to close the pinions.

Showed up at the anchor outside the Deshaan public dungeon the other day, and the person who had solo'd it to last boss died. I had gotten in a shot so stood and waited for the person to respawn and close the anchor.

Common courtesy is lost in MMO, but it still feels good :)

I always help if I see one up. I love dolmens for some reason. I still think it’s awesome when those anchors drop from the sky and the chains go taut.

It wasn't me that helped ya, but I usually join in active dolmens when I pass by on my main.

More often the out of the ways ones will have one or two players trying to do them, I end up just taunting everything, keeping aggro on me, since I know some players hate it when high level players come along and kill everything, let them get the kill xp for the most part, I don't need it. Do the same thing with World Bosses.

I am lazy when it comes to the pins though, unless its just one other person at the dolmen I let the others close them.

I was going to say something but then it felt like a put down... so I stopped myself and will say this instead...

Yeah, I always help on world bosses etc.. I always check if somebody is standing just outside the detection zone for the boss...when I am nearby it...

I'm never sure if joining in is a good idea or not. The spawn rate at a dolmen appears to depend on the number of players present, so adding another may create extra enemies, if you join at the wrong time. Does anyone have the details?

Here's a question unrelated to the feel-good nature of the OP. Do you "get" anything for being the one to close one of the opinions? I mean, is there extra XP, are there extra points, or does the chest give you anything different for closing one or more pinions?

I always take a look at what's going on when I pass active dolmens. I love dolmens so always want to participate. If the players seem to be struggling I'll jump in and help, or if a lot of people are there my going in most likely won't affect any one player. But when I'm late to a dolmen I generally leave the opinions alone (unless NOBODY is going for them after several minutes).

Nice to hear of people helping out others in this game.

There's an achievement for closing a certain number of pinions, which gives a nice purple dye. I generally let other people do the closing since I've already got the achievement and they might not have gotten it yet.

Thank you. I did not know that. I'll have to check to see if I've earned this achievement. I've done a lot of dolmens.

Another thing to note: Closing a pinion restores everyone's resources to max and gives you a buff for a short period (you will notice your arms glowing blue).

And closing the last of the 4 pinions will kill all the monsters that are still alive and spawn the boss.

Level is usually right in front of their PSN name. You basically just look at someone and can see it. Unless you have a bunch of nameplate options turned off in your gameplay menu or something.

I have found that killing things too quickly at a geyser in Summerset makes the final boss much harder. So I slow the process way down when soloing them with my pet sorc to make sure I can handle the final boss. Getting the generic baddie is much safer in that case than getting one of the named ones, when I am solo.

I suspect this could be the same at Dolmans. It is not the number of enemies as much as the speed of killing the mobs. A few more mobs may spawn if you join in, but that shouldn't make things too bad. Definitely not in large groups.
