Really sad to see that more items are going into the crown crates, as the old items seem to be appearing more and more in the crown store for sale. Smh

it seems it's been the same for me. I think the problem is that all of the good/cool stuff is in this crown season. There's plenty of crown store stuff, it's just that most people don't like em right now.

Well, their focus seems to be on the crown crates, aka loot boxes.

Even adding in limited times as usual to make them sell to those that may have issues. Rather then having flat out honest purchases, it had become a carnival game.

If only they put this much effort into the game's performance....I wonder how amazing it would be. :)

Form a business point it makes sense I guess.

This month does seem extra heavy on the repeat items for direct purchase though.

I can't spend me crowns, which means I have no incentive to buy more crowns, if they keep up the repeat stuff.

I agree, and their tactic isn't making me but their crates, it's just getting me to buy less. Though I'm sure their tactic is working on many so here we are with repeats.

I wonder if that business point came from skooma dealer. That would make much more sense.

I actually like the fact they are returning older items to the Crown Store. Sure July's showcase may seem extra stale because so many older items are returning with relatively few newer additions. But still, there are plenty of new items left out of the Crown Crates that will go into the Crown Store directly.

There were 5 datamined costumes for example, and none of them are in the Crown Crates (the crates have 4 costumes, all of them are old returning ones), and they already sold the Hakoshae and Baker costumes in the store directly, the Clan chief costume was a preorder reward, and there are still the Necromancer and the Traveling Merchant costumes left which they clearly didn't put into the crates.

There are also 4 mounts that will be probably be direct purchases, and apart from the Baandari weapons, all other crafting motifs and outfit styles and weapon styles will be direct purchases (some also earnable ingame). 6 out of 15 datamined pets are also going to be direct sales (or perhaps promotion rewards), 2 were prepurchase/CE rewards, they put 4 in the free daily login rewards, one is a crown gem purchase, and only 2 were added to the crates.

So I agree that we don't have many new things available for direct purchase right now, but the number of items and recycles that the crates include is pretty similar to previous seasons, and there are sill many new items that they didn't put into the crates.

I'm glad I already got the pet that I wanted while it was up for crowns. I don't have to spend an exorbitant amount of money or gold to buy a bunch of crown crates just to scrape together enough gems to buy it, or rely on RNG for it to appear in a crate (and thus have to spend even more if it didn't drop).

Nah, it is getting worse as is the game's performance. They had several of the returned items for sale, as returned items already. Just getting more lazy and greedy.

I have only ever bought Crates once - felt guiltily ripped-off afterwards, have never spent a single penny on them since.
But you know what did make me get my wallet out last week - Content.

I'd been out of the game for a while, just purchased Elsewyr liked what I saw enough that I subbed for 3 months.
At the end of that three months if I don't see new Content I'll unsub simple as.

If ZOS want continued access to my Wallet - I want continued access to more / new Content.
    It really is that simple.

    Loot Crates != Content
    Rinse-Repeat Grinds != Content

I wonder if some of that repetition is due to suddenly pulling all the Midyear Mayhem items.

I mean I'm glad that stuff comes back to the store so that people who missed it the first time can buy it, but this is getting ridiculous with the completely lopsided content. People keep datamining all this new exciting stuff and nine times out of ten they expect you to gamble for it instead of just putting it on the *** cash shop. "Oh wow look at all these extremely culturally-relevant emotes they're coming out with! I can't wait to purchase these like a normal consumer!" "HEY KIDS WHO WANTS SOME GUARANTEED CONSUMABLES AND A CHANCE AT THE THING WE'RE REALLY SELLING BECAUSE GAMBLING REGULATION HASN'T CAUGHT UP WITH MALICIOUS INDUSTRY PRACTICES???"

Eh, this crate looks like it has basically the same stuff the previous ones had - some new tattoos & lipstick/eyeshadow/tattoos at 16 & 40 gems, a few retread costumes for cheap, and a bunch of ugly mounts. Same old, same old.

And there have been new mounts/costumes/etc in the crown store this past 3-6 months.

So, not sure what the complaint is, aside from the usual "Crates Bad!" /shrug

(full disclosure: I don't buy crates. I've got ~250 gems saved from when they were handing out piles of free crates last year, and I slowly spend them on 16 & 40 gem items as they interest me. I don't bother with ugly mounts, whether they're Crown purchases or Crate junk. Because they're ugly. I'm still working off the ~3k Crown pack I bought back in the.... 2016? Black Friday sale. I've only bought 500 & 700 crown costumes, and zone DLC on sale.)

That's just plain wrong. As I pointed out in my previous comment, plenty of new items are direct sales and are NOT in the crown crates. I get the issue of 'why are there gambling crates in the first place' but no, crates aren't getting worse when it comes to their content.

There are 11 new emotes. Three were direct purchases (in the Gourmet pack, bundled in with a costume and many furnishings for 700 crowns which is an extremely good deal considering individual emotes cost 500 in the store and a 3 emote bundle already cost 800 alone), and three 'extremely culturally relevant emotes' were direct purchases (included in the Collector's Edition alongside the Culturally relevant mount and pet), and 5 of them were in the crate. 5 out of 11 isn't 'nine out of ten'. And the ratio is similar to the other item categories I posted about (mounts, pets), or even better (costumes).

I've always been against crown crates: between crates and game changes my spending is near zero.

However, I came up with an interesting plan that could make players happy. :)

How about, take everything out of the crown crates and stick them in the crown store ( except rare mounts ). Then when players buy something in the crown store they get a free crown crate that gives you a chance for a rare mount. :)

    Players will be happy
    Zeni will get paid

I’d be happy with that on the condition that if we get a mount or pet from crate they add the function that we can trade them in for gems (even if it’s a reduced gem price like 50% or on the legendary and apex 25% even), the amount of pets and mounts I’ve gotten that I never wanted is ridiculous, the guars, camels, spider pets (not dwarves ones the other ugly freaks of nature that I wish would be obliterated from the face of everything due to an extreme phobia), etc. They add this feature then it’s a triple win for everyone involved, but that’s just my opinion.

Guess Zenimax are trying to max-out their revenue from these loot boxes before the US and other governments ban them .. that day can't come soon enough.

Crown store is literally cosmetic items/trash tier consumables. Why are you whining?

If you don't like it, don't buy it. I seriously can't comprehend some people's logic.

Zeni is a business, of course they're going to put stuff into the store. Same principle as a clothing shop putting old products in, such as Fila gear, etc.

Direct purchase are fine. Crates, not so much... As you say, it makes sense from a business point, as it noticeably increases income to place stuff in random containers.

But truthfully, it's very obviously just a marketing ploy. Since we're talking virtual items, it's not like storage is an issue. They don't need to find a huge warehouse to pile crates of dwarven spiders and high elf costumes. There is no reason whatsoever to even REMOVE an item from the store. Pretty much everything could be permanently in the store.

The game that does that, I mean that will have no random containers of any kind and keeps everything in the store so everyone can purchase that, now that's a game I'd consider fair and square marketing wise.

Honestly, I'm starting to hope that Belgium will hit them hard enough with their legislation that we could see better changes to their money making formula.
