To be fair, management is to blame for basically all of the problems, and there are a lot of them. I'm sure the devs working on the game would love to do things differently, but their hands are tied by the big boys up stairs.

Yeah it really is. I worked as a software dev for 12 years and it was the most frustrating thing ever. It's like my opinions meant absolutely zilch. I'd be, "I think it'd work better if we did it this way", but the project manager and delivery manager would tell me "No, do it like this". Then, as I expected, the client hated the way it functioned and I had to rewrite the entire thing the way I originally wanted it. Of course they charged the client for the extra work, where if they had listened to me, it would have only been done once.
Essentially this is why I don't work in that field anymore.

True story. Work in modern IT feels like s**t. The only one situation when anybody from management cares about quality, if this is something to show off. All the real product is purposefully made clunky and unstable, so customer (company) will have tough chance of maintaining it by themselves. Customer executives are just incentivized in one way or another to purchase that wrecked system and then everybody will blame you for all the problems.
