Can you gift crown crates items bought with gems?

My wife wants the serval pet that is coming out in crates soon but doesn’t buy crates. I get at least one 15 crate pack per season just as a fun “wonder what I’ll get” and have gems saved up from previous seasons. It would be nice to use the gems to give her the pet she wanted, but it doesn’t seem possible from the testing I did. Is there a way to do this?
