Idea: weapon combo bonuses

A lot of people would like new weapons while others would like to use the weapon types they enjoy for any content without the feeling of being "forced" to use certain weapons / combinations.

What about giving additional bonuses when using certain combos on front / backbar to balance this out and make weapons more universally useful.

For example using 1h+s on one bar and bow or dw on the other gives you some bonuses for pve dd etc.....

these could be bonuses to active or passive skills or new synergies or??

example (just to get the idea across) when using a bow on the backbar, powerslam changes into an interrupt that does DOT damage)

This could allow for a lot more build variety and allow people to "play as they want" without having to introduce new weapons and all the visual work associated with it or messing up the loot tables...

What do you think? Horrible idea or interesting?

gw2 does something similar and it works well...

I don't really see how this would effect build varietee, it looks like it would just add another level to find a "Meta"...

And I -definitely- would want more weapon options instead! But then, I would say that, would I not, considering: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/371862/additional-weapon-skill-ideas-mk-ii/p1 ;)

Hmmm. I initially thought actual combos, which I was going to say no to because it would void weaving in many cases and make light attacks outweigh skill rotations (or maybe counter them with more diverse rotations) - - not a bad thing per se, but this late in the game would be an unnecessary shift and contentious change of paradigm.

Your actual idea is interesting, but I'd fear for the branching calculations and additional layers of mathematical complexity... There'd be a tonne more if then else type bool check preceding every impact and skill trigger.

I want new weapon types but if i had to settle give like 3 more skills per weapon line.

    Idea twohander tank/dps variety

    Warcry: conal aoe taunt
Morph minor lifesteal on taunted targets

Whirling strike: swing weapon around and around in a 3 swing circle hitting all enemies in range.

Berserking rage: skill like assassins will activate get minor berserk dealing damage increases weapon damage by small stacks.

Morph reduced dmg taken when active by 8%

Morph gain critical chance while active

New passive: iron fleshed: reduced cost of blocking with a 2 hander equipped by 10% and increased block migitation by 10%

Would definitely make 2 hander builds fun since most of them use 1 skill and normally the lamest looking skill.

...which could be interesting, if done in a "pick one" way. Like... call them "weapon mastery" skills, make it a full five skills, and passives, and a second ultimate... but you can only unlock -one- weapon mastery, and only for a skill line you have raised to 50, maxed and morphed everything for.

I agree. No matter the actual variety, there will always be a specific combination that synergizes better with a certain class and skills, and gear set(s) - - there is already a huge variety of build options within close performance range, but the meta is the mathematical 'best' option. Adding in these branches just provides more numbers to crunch through to get there.
