I just spent a few minutes searching google and youtube for a solid explanation of the benefits of going one way or another or even why a mix is more desirable. If anybody could guide to me to a recent/relevant article or video with clear and concise information, I would be forever grateful.

Are you talking about critdmg modifiers or crit chance raiting?

I'm talking about straight spell or weapon damage versus critical damage. Why one is more advantageous than the other.
