New Dungeons Mechanics (no more portals)

Look...seriously...the last several Trial ms have all had portal mechanics. Maw of Lorkhaj, Cloudrest, Sunspire.

    Bosses that apply Major debuffs to an entire group if too close
    Cloning DPS test
    Bosses that apply Disease Damage that lowers healing.
    Oblivion gates that open up and huge numbers of daedra swarm and the gates must be burned down.
    Adds that explode and must be used to remove shields from bosses

    Reasons I didn't like Sunspire:

    Most of the trial is a combination of reskined mechanics and visual themes (there are exceptions).

    The dragons feel underwhelming because the amount of conjuration mechanics they use draw the attention from them to the conjured atronachs.

    While the dragons visualy operate above the horizon line, all the mechanics players have to pay attention to are below it which feels very disconnected visualy.

    Other than that the environment design of sunspire is very beautifull and the quest is also cool.
    (MoL is still the best trial in game though)

    As long as we don't get any range only trial trash anymore, I am down for anything.
    Join a vAS or vCR raid as melee and you know what I mean. Those mechanics needs to stop.

    It is rather tiresome to see such similar mechanic over and over. It does show a stagnant thought. I think the overall design of the two previous trials, AS and CR, are prime examples of lazy design.

    This is one thing we actually pay Zos to do. MattF is in charge of making sure the team has creative talent. With that, heck yes I have ideas for fight mechanics that would be in line with the fights we have had in ESO (MoL) but not reuse mechanics from other fights.

    Zos is free to contact me if they want the ideas but no need to post them here as I seriously doubt this thread will be read.

    Eh backroom / portals started with MoL.

    The backroom in MoL is just a fancier portal mechanic. The only difference between MoL and backroom of other encounters is MoL doesn't re-use the same room, the premise is basically the same though across them all <X group members exit main encounter -> Go to a designated area to do X -> If they fail bad Y happens, in the case of MoL or Cloudrest the group then wipes>.

    how about we start with more roles then 10 dps and a DPS tank and 1 heal . i mean come the fudge on the game is so homogenized its boring.

    The oblivion gates are portals and we already got that mechanic in planar inhibitor

    You have a point:

    vMoL - Go into the back room and kill some cats before it kills the whole group

    vHoF - Go upstairs and kill some robots before it kills the whole group

    vCR - Go into the portal and kill some crystals before it kills the whole group

    vSS - Go into the time breach and kill the servant before it kills the whole group

    Arguably the mechanics of each of these have become less interesting over time. Starting from running around finding the enemies with synergies on maze-like paths, to disabling shields and coordinated button presses, to carrying crystals and jumping upstairs, and finally just doing damage while surviving mechanics that are all pulled from other fights.

    I remember a statement how PvE doesn't have sneaking enemies - why not make it a mechanic? A boss goes invisible and tries to sneak to a player - if the boss succeeds to do it, oneshot and repeat the sneak until everybody is slaughtered or the boss is caught sneaking. Or weak oneshotting adds sneaking. (weak, so you can kill them ASAP when you find one)

    And yes, my main is still a bosmer and I would like to have purpose in PvE for my passive.

    Yeah, melee is not screwed out of content often enough. Oh, and vCR execute is a bit like that.

    Ever heard about Caluurion? No, not the gank set, the actual guy. He has those totems and skeletons that explode... put 2 and 2 together?
