This is awesome and confusing and hilarious and I feel a little bit silly, but a tale (PC NA)-
I'll preface this by saying that I main a stamblade and that at CP 220-ish I was doing at max 2.5k (yes, two thousand five hundred) DPS. Along with some serious help from guildies, a few awesome players went out of their way to help me just because they could. I just cleared 45k DPS a week or so ago (CP 810 now) and I've got all of these kind people to thank, so as cheesy as it sounds, I like to pay it forward.
ANYWAY. A few weeks ago someone was asking questions about the stamblade build in Grahtwood zone chat. They were confused about a few things so I tossed out some replies to help. They whispered me asking for DPS help because they were hitting 6k or so, and I gladly agreed. We met up and saw that this person was over CP 1000. They said they'd been heavy into roleplaying up until recently, and because I have no idea what RPers actually do, I didn't really question it. Got the person in front of a dummy and they showed me their rotation, which involved spamming arrow spray and ambush. This was pretty much what I was doing at CP 220 so it definitely hit a soft spot. I showed them the basics of the standard stamblade rotation and getting light attacks in between skills along with giving them some food and weapon power potions, and on their way they went, saying they were going to practice.
A few days later they whispered me saying that they'd done a ton of practice and Youtube research and had gotten their DPS up to 30k. Pretty miraculous, but again, didn't really question it because at CP 1000 I figured it wasn't outside of the realm of possibility to do that, since I can hit about 30k when doing a slow rotation with LAs in between skills at max CP. They asked about doing pledges together because they were having issues with other players not being patient and because my DPS is pretty high. Sure- my DPS is generally OK enough that I can happily carry players with lower DPS if need be.
We grouped for pledges last night with two other "RP-ers" and I was a little surprised when we queued into vet Fang Lair. Prior to that I'd done it exactly twice- once on norm and once on vet. I figured we could give it a try.
Turns out that my friend and their two friends pull superhuman DPS. Things were melting in a way that I've never seen before outside of the videos of the pros. I was doing at most 25% of group DPS at 40-45k. My friend kept saying that I was carrying them, etc, but...
What they didn't realize is that they're dealing with someone who should probably be in the FBI due to her Googling skills honed by years of researching the ex-GFs of the guys she dates (it's uh, mostly under control now.). I Googled the username of my friend and... this person has topped the ESO leaderboards across various trials/arenas. I should have checked everyone because they mentioned that another player was from Hodor (do Hodor members have NA accounts? I have no idea). I mentioned that Google indicated that they were better than they may have let on and they acted confused. When we finished FL they said that we should do more pledges and that they were going to go RP and cry.
I... what?! Other guildies have suggested that they're RPing a bad DPS and if that's the case and you're reading this, friend, I'm happy to RP a good DPS to help you, even though I haven't the slightest idea how to RP. Things like this are what make the game awesome, if not confusing...
(also, let's do vet Falkreath; I really want that gold dye)
