A Bit About Dragons

I’ve been fooling around in Elseweyr with my fake DPS specced tank and enjoying the spawning dragon battles a great deal. They are a change of pace from normal world bosses, and make for a more interesting fight than dolmen. I found them addicting.

People seem to die the most from frontal breath attacks, the aerial strafe attack, and standing within the dragon’s body aura. It seems like the safest area to stand if there is a tank, or at least someone who can hold the dragon to one facing is just to the left or right of their face. Standing anywhere else just results in a hefty knock back from wings or tail.

People also don’t seem to value the power of holding block against telegraphed attacks. That, and decent self healing can make a huge difference in being killed or not.

I notice some people tend to try to keep as far away and in the most isolated area as they can, I guess because they are nervous about being killed, but all that does is prevent them from receiving any healing that might be going off near the dragon, and scatters the adds all over the place during those phases.

Still, these are fun fights, and if you build a serious brawler build that can face tank the dragon, they can be pretty thrilling. I kind of wish ZOS would go back into dolmen battles and tune them up to be as interesting.
