Necromancers! Zenimax's greatest flop so far?

I didn't think it could be possible to design such a boring and clunky class but Necromancer just feels painful to play. The ultimates however feel like you're activating some kind of cheatcode as they're all ridiculously strong but outside ultimates Necromancer just feels bland and sluggish to play and of course we have the wonky corpse mechanics and poor AI blastbones. At first it was fun but I've quickly been burnt out by this slow paced class.

Maybe I just need some inspiration on how to make Necromancer (specifically stamina necromancer) as I'm struggling to find alternative ways to find success with this class. Feel free to post some fun and interesting Suggestions for Stam necro.

Try dottzgaming's stamina necromancer for PVP as a base. I'm not pvping with him yet, but it plays very well in overland/dungeons. I actually feel like I'm weaving better/playing better with necro than my Templar I've been playing for years. And I didn't want them to release the class at all in the beginning.

I'm pretty perplexed by why you think the class is clunky...as far as I'm concerned it's one of the smoothest playing classes I've worked with so far. Love the play style, feels fast paced and powerful.

I agree with the sentiment but I think this time op was hoping for some help. Necro is quite different and still brand new so there's a lot of differing opinions. My experience so far has been good, but still have had a few issues with ability targeting and such with necro but overall I think it's much more unique playstyle than the other classes.

    Just my 2 cents. :)

Indeed we know ZoS has done a lot of great stuff in this game but this thread is about Necromancers specifically. I and I believe many others feel they kind of missed a fantastic chance to make a fun and interesting class. Like most things ZoS do these days this class can't help but feel rushed and unfinished. I like the idea of the corpse mechanic but its no good if abilities just don't fire or blastbones bugs out. Good idea but real sloppy execution.

I understand wanting help in understanding how to play a Class but I didn't call the Dragonknight ZOS' biggest failure back when I couldn't get a grip with it.

I think it was just merely the hype for Necromancer which makes me feel just a bit more negative towards the class. I just as of this moment isn't quite meeting expectation for me personally. I admit so far it's a struggle but I badly want to overcome it.

I disagree that the necromancer is a boring class. OP finds the stamina necro boring, but the stamina of every class is so dependent on weapon and assault skills and set in playstyle that it's hard to find this new class as being fresh. That's not to say ZOS couldn't have done more with stamina class skills, but that's not isolated to the necromancer alone.

I think ZOS actually gave the necromancer class a lot of thought and designed it to suit the current state of the game. Make no mistake the necromancer is a pay to win class, not that it's the meta for dps, healing or tanking, but it completely versatile beats the other classes by being above average in every aspect.

And that design has to do with how the majority plays this game pertaining to ~70% of the game which is solo or group pve. Let's look at magicka necro, which is bashed in a lot of the threads here saying how bad they are. They are not bad at all, they just can't compete in end game dps because their single target damage is lacking and they have no execute to make use of the 100% crit unlike stamina necro.

In fact, stamina and magicka necros sets a new standard in trivializing pve content, with it's passive synergies and large aoes with buffs, and being additionally tanky and with a healing skill line. Both feels extremely powerful in general pve to say the least.

Let's take a closer look at magicka necro, and how it perfectly fits into the current state of group content. It is designed with a lot of aoe dps, large aoe debuff with major breech and fracture, and large aoe buff with an ultimate increasing 30% damage. And on top of that, given damage reduction and major ward/resolve and a high burst heal that also increase resists. I have been playing magicka necro and love it, there's a lot of sentiments a full healer doesn't feel needed, and this class is designed around that. I use a full dps spec and gear, and queue vet dungeons as a healer. With that much going for it, I find myself competitive with dps on trash mobs as the other 2 dps roles while healing and buffing. I've actually queued into a team with 2 dps just above cp160 and kept them alive while beating their combine dps. Even when there's max cp full trial gear dps, you still buff their damage greatly.

Stamcro is playing decent in PVP. There are of course bugs with blastbones but if you dont use that skill it is perfroming well against other players based on my own experience.

Corpse skills dont function well in PVP for me but espunge, necrotic potency, bone armor, sythe and all three ults are working well for me in Cyro 30 day standard CP.

I loved mine until today when the avid boneyard morph stopped working and I can no longer trigger grave robber! Animation goes off but nothing happens, no cooldown, I just wave my arms over and over. I hope I'm not the only one with this issue and it gets fixed quickly cause I want my character back :(

Well i like the necromancer...i agree tough that some further iteration is in order...some of the skills are a bit clunky to use...but with some changes we will get there...

the syphon is a bit clunky to use

blastbone's delay imo is too long to make it any useful - i can run up faster to the enemy than the blastbone i created...doesnt make sense to me - i think i'd be fine if you shortened the delay from 2.5 to 1.5 seconds

the projection speed of the skull should be slightly increased but thats a minor

I wish one of the boneyard morphs was stamina but thats not "broken" rather just preferences (the use your own synergy would make sense)

Not a huge fan of the off-balance scythe change and wished they did something different - but again, preference

Honestly the only "emergency" i see is the blastbones skill which isn't useful currently...but i am not a pvp'er so...

Only using two of the summons. Blastbones is to slow.

Disappointed how hard the stamnecro is hitting.

I was skeptical at first, too, but really enjoying playing my DW stamcro in PvE. Easily the most powerful solo character I've tried to level up. Also seems to be the new meta for both tank and healer, and aoe bash sword and board necro is ruling PvP at the moment.

I don't wanna be rude and say it's a L2P issue, but experiment with some different sets and styles until you find one that works for you.
