How are you using your Necromancers?

I’m looking forward to Elsweyr dropping for consoles next week and I’m curious to know how the PC community is using their Necromancers. Are they better suited for pve or pvp? Are they better matched with stamina or magica? Or are they better as a support role like tank/healer? Let me know your thoughts!

PvE - Healer Necro

Healer here. She’s not ready for the big leagues until she’s earned all her important skills/passives, but I’m getting there. It feels fun and I hope it’s meta viable enough to stand toe to toe with a healplar. That being said, half of my ground target dps abilities are bugged. As a healer I’m ok with it, but if I was trying to magcro dps that would be infuriating.

PvP - Stamina Necro

Stamnecro in pvp and Tank in PvE. I’ll be pvping more so that’s how I answered.

Leveled in BGs and hit 50. Now the long grind to get all my skills leveled up before I can pvp again and not get wrecked.

PvE - Magica Necro

I voted for PVE Mag Necro, but I am leveling a magicka, stamina (2H), stamina (bow), and tank build as well. So far the magicka is the furthest along and I'm having a blast with her, but the bow necro is also fun. The 2H version is quite fun but is still low level so I haven't gotten much feel for the class on that...so far it feels about the same as my stam sorc and stam dk (all 2h). I don't care for dual wield.

Magica. Is she using dual fire staves and if so why fire versus shock...
I can't seem to see why every necrogica build is fire staves...is it due to a specific passive?

PvP doesn't have the PvE Tank-Dps-Heal roles. It's useless to specialize unless you run a zerg

PvP tank is not the same as PvE tank. To me a PvP tank is a tanky dps build that can also take agro of the adds you come across. Also very helpful in sewer groups. I could have clarified that in the poll but I figured people would get what I was getting at.

Ran tank through some grp dungeons. Still dont have all the maxxed out stats and skills though. Better than warden tank for sure.

I am running two Magicka Necomancers. One setup for PvP play the other for PvE. I made two because the champion point spread for each play style was completely different and I was not about to spend 3k on changing my champion point spread every time I wanted to switch between PvE and PvP play

I'm planning on eventually doing most things with necro. They seem best at PvE dps and PvP group play. They're pretty good as PvE tanks and healers especially for progression IMO.

I'm not, because its not out yet.

Most people do not play on the test server and a huge percent are on console, so no access to test server/release.

I'm on PC not on test servers and Necro builds currently outnumber all other classes 3/4-1

Not quite sure where this info came from.

Umm... extra emphasis on “PC Community” as Elsweyr has been out for close to 2 weeks for them. So... yeah. I was asking those specifically on PC who have played with this class.

PvE - Tank Necro

PVE Tank because of those perfect circles of trash mobs that gather around me from the passive that also means I use chain pull a lot less often. Such a QoL improvement for tanks!

These results are interesting. Currently it seems the majority is building PvE magic Necromancers. I’m curious to know how their damage compares to that of a magplar or magsorc.

Pretty much using my stam necro exactly the same way I use my stamsorc, only with nerco skills. I'll refine the character better once I get more necro skills and improve them.

The most fun I've had with a true bow/bow build. Great aoe dmg, sustain, spammable and ult gen.

7 Medium, 2 big hp enchants. Orc and Lava Foot Soup food. Shadow Mundus.

5x Relequen Body
5x Tzogvin's Warband Jewelry and front bar sharpened bow absorb stam.
2x Veledreth or Stormfist monster set
1x VMA back bar bow infused wpd.

Swap acid spray for Beneficent Armor for more suvivability.
Swap vigor for siphon for slightly more dmg via 3% dmg done back bar.

I like my stamnecro, but I’m finding the lack of major brutality in the class toolkit is really limiting the class in pvp.

I'm the kind of person that takes forever to make a single character. But I entertain backstory in my mind before I make up my mind. I dont RP ever really, but this is important to me. Been playing since beta super casually.
I'm excited I'll have an alt finally lol. I plan to start as magcro, but I'll try a lot of different ways to play.
