Forum Suggestion: better integration between in-game account and forum account

Since forums are already only accessible to people with an in-game account, why not take the integration one step further?

It can be small things like showing your CP under your name, your title, or guild, or the current faction you're playing in when faction locks are enabled. Or it can be higher level stuff like having your avatar be you actual character. I just think it'd make the forums more atmospheric/authentic.

I love this idea. You could choose which character to link and select which things you want to display on your profile like achievements, alliance rank, etc.

I'm sure it would require a completely new site to be built from scratch... What we're using is basically a 3rd party pre-fab forum web app.

Yeah that's actually my ulterior motive. haha. To lessen *** like that. :P Lots of people like that in pvp forums too.

Yeah that's actually my ulterior motive. haha. To lessen *** like that. :P Lots of people like that in pvp forums too.

Well maybe you get a max of 3 lines under your name and you choose 3 things to feature to keep it clean. So if you wanna be seen as someone credible in doing trials, you select a title you've earned in-game that goes with it. Something like that.

Excellent idea, Path of Exile has this for all platforms you can view all the players characters, builds, passive tree and stash.

Yeah, I've played PoE, the forums are really nice, but it's also kind of a necessity for it to be nice because trading's pretty old fashioned in that one.

Also I think for that game, it's very easy to integrate things to their forum because every item in the game has its own "ID" in their "database."

I wonder if it's as easy for ESO though.

@Sylvermynx Whole heatedly agreed, especially since it can be used against people in so many ways. If such a thing were ever implemented then we should also have an option to set it to "private" for those of us who have no desire to either display that information or see it.

The problem with most suggestions like this is its half a "we want to see that so-and-so actually is credible on this topic" and half "I really just want to measure my you-know-what".

There's ways to handle the former, both in game and on the forums. I suspect most of us learn quickly who among the regular posters we consider credible in certain fields. For those who aren't always the best informed, usually a polite "Hey, that's not been my experience in PVP/trials/whatever...do you mind being more specific" suffices. Or even a not so polite "Yeah, that's not how that works...*explains how it actually works*"

Yes I get where you are coming from. That is why I merely suggested that you can put in your earned titles (among other things) and not checklists of what actual content you have finished, or best DPS on target dummies, or current gear. Just lowkey things that help establish credibility, and not end-all-be-all proofs. And it still leaves something for your signature.
