Kill me now: Use Lethan's Rune in Ebon Stadman

I have just spent the last two hours trying to do this quest. I have tried every combination you could think of over and over again. I don't know if I want a solution or commit suicide? I have been on Youtube and reading other players solutions but none work for me. I have even tried abandoning the quest and starting it over with same negative results. At this point, I don't know if I am asking for help or just venting. Thanks.

Trial and error worked for me. Just went and tried every possible path until I eventually had it.

I experienced a similar level of frustration with this quest when I first attempted it. As I recall the trick is you first have to use the rune outside Ebon Stadmont, on the opposite side to where the entrance is, near where the river comes down from Skyrest. Intuitive? Not so much... Wander around a bit between the river and ES until prompted to use the rune. Then you can go around to the other side, enter, and start looking for the crows.

Solution that worked for me

count the crows on the archway and follow the count in the book. First the arch with 2 crows, then the archway with 1 crow, then the archway with 3 crows (neither 1 nor 2). The crow head on the top of the arch counts.

I don’t even remember what quest that is but I have done all of them successfully so just remember: this idiot made it through, you can too!

Like all puzzles in this game, I just use trial and error. There are only a handful of possible combinations, so try them all.
