To you PvE players playing in Cyrodiil this week

I',m sorry. I'm sorry for the griefing you had to endure to get your rewards. I truly am.
I've witnessed first hand how bad pvp can get if not managed proprerly.
This week should never have included town quest for rewards, only the normal main base quests should have had rewards, that way people could get rewarded for doing actual pvp, maybe learning a bit in the process, instead of being victim to the griefing that takes place at the towns now.
I sincerely hope you will come back to Cyrodiil, there are many awesome players to meet and learn from :)

Ignore the l2p and 'you-in-pvp'nao'so-anything-goes' muppets - they will comment here ;)

I hope to see you in Cyrodiil :D

You're a class act, @Travestynox - but no, I won't ever be pvp'ing again. Haven't in this game, did in WoW, hated every minute of it even though I was decent at it by the time I moved my candy a$$ back to my pve servers.

Hope you don't get slammed too hard....

Thank you for trying to be one of the few cool ones. I have to admit, I can't wait for this week's event to end. You guys can have your pvp all to yourselves. No one certainly makes me want to pvp more from this experience. Shame on ZOS for allowing the mechanics that permitted mass griefing and creating such a toxic event.

just kidding man...some of the cooler times i've had in cyro have been when another player doesn't instinctively attack, and, we end up just hanging out emoting one another...

it happens a lot actually once you get away from the keeps, outposts and resources...i haven't participated a bunch in this event, but, i've collected about 50 town quest anniversary boxes (not a lot really) and never once had an issue with another alliance solo player doing their quest thing...

there usually is though no dealing with, or getting along with a group of enemy players...you either need to hide, or, they will kill you...

I do both PVP and PVE...although I am primarily a solo adventurer by heart. I do enjoy PVP when I do it. That said... I saw (and endured) pretty pathetic behavior on the part of gankers just wanting to do whatever they could to spoil other people's time just trying to quest in towns, especially those who hole up in the buildings where you turned in quests.

On the other hand... sometimes there were also PVP players who defended those who were questing. To those people, you are the true stars! You have my admiration and ESO is better with people like you!

Good post OP. Yes, many PVE'rs were decimated by The Orc Army and other excellent PVPers during this event. I just stayed out of Cyrodil and enjoyed BGs instead.

Anyway, good post! Hope us PVE'rs are not too angry about this and do get in to Cyrodil and BGs. PVP is a lot of fun if you give it a chance. Just remember it isn't PVE and those PVPer's for the most part are really good!

Considering the exact same thing happened last year's Anniversary, and the last Midyear Mayhem, and the Midyear Mayhem before that, and ZOS changed nothing, I'm not as hopeful as you.

ZOS consistently expects players to do ALL of the content if they want ALL of the rewards, and doesn't seem too intent on changing the town designs (except to add even more reasons to fight at Crops, Vlast, and Bruma.)

Yeeeaaaahhh, town quests are lame int he first place. Tying them to a PvP event for boxes was not the best plan.

Also, I would like to remove the doors from ALL buildings in PvP towns stat or have the ability to burn them to the ground. Hiding inside a building is such a gdam 12 year old thing to do, and if you are of the sort that finds it funny and a good time, you are the lamest most boring kind of person. -_-

After I spent years in WoW and RIFT, trying to do all content provided with a crap connect (same one I still have....) I got past that. Now, there is not one thing in any game which would force me to do content I dislike. Not. One. Thing.

I didn't care about the prophet motifs or the lyris ones or the tharn ones. If I don't get the sai ones during week 5, I'll just buy them, or a couple of RL friends might be able to provide.

Thank you for an awesome post, OP!

I am a mainly PVE'er. I got all the achievements for doing all the town quests in every town. Did I get ganked a few times? Sure! Will I return to Cyrodiil? Sure! I also did a bunch of board quests but I'm old and I'm stubborn and I'm lazy. I don't feel like changing my whole setup when I go to Cyrodiil so I go in my light, divines. But I have fun anyway. I help fight at keeps, I take resources, I play horse simulator doing scouting reports and I like the element of risk. Most important, I don't take getting killed personal. I just rez and get back out there. I, too, hope that more PVE'ers will see that Cyrodiil can be fun and exciting!

It's hard to make a case for people to try Cyrodiil when some PvPers don't want inexperienced players to be there at all...

Which is kind of funny because the fewer people doing zone-based PvP, the less incentive ZOS has for making it a priority.

Was in the districts in IC last night trying to do some quick quests for boxes and had two really good experiences.

    1. Got caught by a group of 6 or 7 AD so naturally, they killed me. Came back as I only had a tiny bit left of the quest, they found me again, and when I stood up and showed I wasn't fighting, they stopped hitting me. Whispered one of them my thanks and even though they saw me a few minutes later, they still left me alone.

    2. Was in a different district where a single DC took me out 3 times in a row. I whispered to him and said, "Dude, if I could I would give you all my telvar. I'm just trying to finish this stupid quest!! LOL" He whispered right back to go ahead and steered clear of me.

Not everyone is a douchenoodle, some are, take it with a grain of salt and remember to say thanks to the ones that aren't!

    Thanks for this post @Travestynox

I actually hope that ZOS leaves this event alone. All three weeks have been fine. Sure, my PVE characters got killed a few times in Cyrodiil. And I would respawn, and try again. If someone was camping a spot to keep me from questing there, I would just leave that campaign, and join a different one as guest. Or logout and switch to a different faction PVE character. I got over 10 boxes each day in the limited time I have to play.

And thanks for the invite to come back to Cyrodiil. Seriously though, I would need to find a group that would let me join, because there would be a lot for me to learn.

No. Every PvPer did not do that. Just the trash players who get their asses kicked irl every time they leave their parents house. And I dont recall claiming anybody was a good PvPer. And I never mentioned kids. I also dont recall using the word amazing. So I dont know wtf you're talking about. Lol

Also, I would like to remove the doors from ALL buildings in PvP towns stat or have the ability to burn them to the ground.
This can't happen for performance reasons. The building in question has a remote interior located under the world. When you use the door, you are teleported to the room. There should only be a brief black screen, not a full load screen with graphics.

They are designed this way so the rooms can have interior details without affecting the performance outside.
Hiding inside a building is such a gdam 12 year old thing to do, and if you are of the sort that finds it funny and a good time, you are the lamest most boring kind of person. -_-
Maybe, but whatever motivations individual players may have, they are allowed to ambush others.

I am usually outspoken about topics like sportsmanship and have consistently encouraged good players to help their less effective teammates in Cyrodiil. I don't enjoy door camps, I do not recall killing a single quester in any of the events, yet I recognize that is all legitimate gameplay and not harrassment/griefing/exploiting.

PVP games all have pick yourself up by your bootstrap cultures. This is fair because it's just a game so no one will starve to death if they don't get AP/loot boxes. But most good PVP players are happy to help those who are polite, humble and willing to help themselves. You would be amazed by how few ESO players are willing to do this. Most have a "play how I want" attitude and won't adapt.

We must also understand that to many players PVP games are appropriate outlets for human attributes considered negative by society like sadism. It's the perfect environment to enjoy the suffering of your opponents -- within the rules. Many players ENJOY verbally sparring with other players. Like in sports, it's a lot of fun to trash talk a rival on the battlefield, but then have a beer together later. Plus PVP games are naturally heated as all competitive environments are, so players will lose their cool occasionally. Again, this is the environment to experience those emotions and learn how to work through them.

If you want to play in our arena, come prepared and willing to do what is necessary to win. All that was needed to kill the guys in the cabin was some basic coordination, the intelligent use of counters like immovables, purges, sets like Earthgore, defensive ults like barrier, and a coordinated ult dump -- that's just basic advice, there's far more you could do.

Does this mean that in a few days, all the pvpers can complain about the unfun slog through dungeons to get a trinket?

If PVP isn't your thing, just pass on this one. There's not even a achievement from this one. Just some junky skins for outfits.

Agreed. The debate on this is dull and old. Don't like pvp, don't do the event. It's over today anyway.

Everyone doesn't HAVE to have everything right. Entitlement is rife.

The same folks will complain about 'burnout' and 'event saturation' soon too which never ceases to amaze me. It's a computer game, burn out from work & life not a darn game!!

The event has something for everyone, bit of crafting, pvp, zone bosses etc play as you like and get some bonus free stuff is how to win.

    Stop all the moaning.

I have a couple of pvp characters with pvp builds I made them specifically for that sole purpose after enjoying midyear mayhem many moons ago. The reason I enjoyed pvp was the atmosphere and being able to get into medium size groups that were happy to show me the ropes. I had done lots of research prior on what siege to use plus I had done my training and had stealthed round the cyrodiil map to get familiar with my surroundings. These players were in my campaigns everyday and soon enough I got to know them and vice versa.
Unfortunately, once midyear mayhem ended, those amazing ppl were gone too and I was left feeling like a lil fish in a big pond. I kept going in and asking for groups only to be ignored. I saw lots of players begging for groups to join...it was pitiful...I gave up for a while tbh and got caught up with the non pvp event activities which kept me busy...always hoping I could go back and find groups to pvp with.

This event I had a very mixed experience. There were many and I repeat many pro pvpers helping the pvers...keeping the enemy factions away from the questing areas. I joined in the fun afcourse...died lots too but also got some sweet kills...the way pvp should be. But and here it comes....the BIG BUTT..........I pvp on one faction wont say what one, this is not about that.
I have 2 pvp toons on that one faction...it's an integrity thing for me...always has been. Today, shock horror, I was forced to
Pvp on my pve toons i other factions. This felt like a huge betrayel of my faction. Anyway, I struggled on my pve toons due to getting ganked and literally one shotted except on my warden...she is awesome for a pver in cyrodiil..hot damn. She held her own.
I did not like being one shotted as I came out a door and being whispered by someone fron another faction who told me I was being filmed for his twitch.tv. He did this 3 times till I reported him and then logged out. It's being looked into. This is wrong on many levels and made me feel violated. I dont mind being one shot but re- read what this guy was doing. He literally names players on his channel and says their name over and ovet and over. I get it that players stream pvp but usually it pro players that play fair. Meaning they don't get off on bullying a pve quester and then filming them. When I mentioned what this guy was doing on cyrodiil zone chat a player told me to not make a big deal about it. I'm not going to stand for this hideous game culture. Our rl society is out of control enough and we dont need it in a game. It is being looked into so if you had the horrible experience of running into him know that I reported him. Even if nothing eventuates from it I feel better for speaking up.
I also saw friends duelling with other factions and found out they were friends which made certain situations rather confusing. I started attacking the enemy and my faction homies just stood around watching...i was confused. Didn't know it was a thing. The last bad experience was the constant enemy players hiding in quest buidings ganking questers over and over and that quest..the produce one that takes 15 mins to complete ...just waiting for quest items to respawn with so many players doing quests in ganky areas. I can say it was a stressful situation at times especially when not many pages drop.
Anyway, I appreciate zos helping me by replying to my ticket and I am very grateful to all the amazing pvp players that helped us out. You guys are amazing people ...and thanks to all the healers that would drop us a heal as we travelled past them. ❤❤❤
