Stam Sorc - Nightmothers gaze and Shacklebreaker ok for PVP?

I just got to lvl 50 and need a a beginners setup with easy obtainable gear for battlegrounds. I was thinking Nightmothers gaze and shacklebreaker , is that an OK combo? Im a fan of critsurge so that reduction in resistance comes in handy right? I only do battlegrounds. Thanks in advance.

    First things first, if you're just beginning it might be better to invest into defense rather than high offense, so you can learn to play the class. Therefore I need to say that Surge has nothing to do with penetration, only with crit chance. I found Surge to be better on medium in CP, especially on DoT builds.

    But NMG can "aoe" proc through Hurricane so it's a viable option. Shackle is always great bc it get's you more Dark Deal and Streaks. So overall a viable setup. But there are builds that are more beginner friendly.

    As monster set I'd go with Troll King or Blood Spawn.

    Thanks for the input. As for crit surge, i figured since its a reliable way to crit - i wil always end up applying the debuff right? Im gonna make it medium as you suggested. I will go Troll King to i think. Thanks man :)

    Just remember that surge won't be enough to keep you alive on it's own, especially if you play a squishy medium armor build. Your weapon damage will of course be lower if you go for pen over weapon dmg, so your other heals will be lower too.

    You will crit (and therefor proc NMG and surge) more often in medium than heavy, right. If you find yourself to squishy go with 5 heavy shackle and opt for Spriggans. Your dmg will be lower (assumed no one else puts major fracture on your target) but Heavy works very well with Troll King.

    Additionally, if you have to go with medium, use Fortified Brass, not shackle.

    Fortified Brass/ Trollking stays a viable setup for quite a while.
