How big are most guilds?

I really am just asking this out of curiosity.

Is there any indication as to how big most guilds are, overall? I mean the big guilds are obviously in the limelight, rightfully, but is a small guild with close friends also common, if not in the public eye?

TIA

I don't know that there's any data out on that. You'd run into some confounding factors, too:

Do you count inactive guilds? personal bank guilds? Joke guilds made to claim stuff in cyrodiil?

Small guilds definitely are common. Personally, I'm in a guild of 70ish (but only 15 active), another guild of 70ish, a trade guild of 400+, and a socialish guild of 200ish. I've been a part of guilds as small as 30 people that still maintained a level of activity that let them really function as a "guild" rather than just a group chat.

Once the guild finder is available, you'll be able to see this data more-so. Part of a guilds listing is how many "active memebrs" the guild has. To count as an active member you must have logged into the game within the past 30 days. I guess this won't give you a full answer, but you could search and see.

Ah', I hadn't realised that was coming. Thank you.

I've been in a guild since before launch and there are only about 10 of us who are active. Most of us belong to another guild which has been a friend guild since before launch and that is where we do most of our group stuff at. The first guild is just a few friends who like to have a channel of talk that doesn't clog up other guild chats.

Then there are trading guilds I've been in where if you are not active you get kicked because demand for membership is so high. I've even seen some trading guilds that require you to pay gold to even stay in as a member.

Edit: Heck we have more active members on our Facebook page than we do in game because they have moved on to other guilds in game and that is OK.

My main Social Guild is bumping against 500 members. My main Trading Guild is at 500 Members too. Then I have a smaller social guild that is around 350 members. There are two other small guilds i am a part of too.

However, it is not the size of the roster, but how many members, on average, are online. I feel that it takes about 50 members on line for the guild to feel active. Much less and it gets harder to find people for activities like a dungeon, at least on that guild.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
