State of Mag DPS (PvE)

The mag necro is very good 6 mil dummy parse about 52k (for me). While my mag blade sits about 50k on PTS. In fairness the extra dps comes from necro ulti. Necro is currently bugged so crits on pets is 100% and it shouldnt be. When that is changed i think necro will fall just under mag blade but provide a lot of group utility (res Ulti/ Boneyard for synergy/ and Major Vulnerability). Making it worth playing. However, I know that necro will try to be rebalanced for PvP. When this happens i hope they dont take much away from damage or we are going to see another heavily under performing class for PvE. Maybe one for progression groups (probably a support role).

Further more i believe higher Dps classes should be dependent on the difficulty of the rotation. I currently thing Magplar has far to easy of a rotation for the damage it pulls. Even on live magplar currently pulls more than Magblade which i think is a big problem. Players should be rewarded for the effort it takes to master a truely dynamic and difficult roataion like magblade or even Necro (personally still think Magblade is harder). I also understand there is a goal to make end game fun for all and am completely fine with Magplar pulling enough Dps to Tackle the end game content i just dont think it should be the Meta. Would love to hear others opinions.

Magden has the lowest DPS of any clas yet one of the most difficult rotations.

What is looking like the best Magplar rotation on PTS? I know it’s very simple on live, but Reflective Light and Vamp Bane durations we’re changed. Does it require a dynamic rotation now?

Sorc is easier than ever with the new 8s Lightning Flood to match Blockade. This was a great change that makes the class even more friendly to beginners. It is also pulling higher numbers than Nightblade on PTS, but some of this is from the pet crit bug.

I agree that there should be diversity, but why do you disagree magplar should even touch being any form of meta, yet nb should be meta? I don't think nb rotation is exactly super difficult, what makes magblade more important than magplar?
    Unfortunate magicka warden main.

Magplar has more difficult rotation than petsorc. Magplar optimal rotation needs to be dynamic too. Some skills are clunky and there's no mobility nor survivability for pvp. Why in the hell would you nerf its dps? Try to actually main a class before you give such suggestions. Magplar waited for a long time for its dps to be up to par with every other class.

for the first part Ive never played Magden so for me to try to weigh in on where it should fall would be unfair.

Second I was refering to Live for magplar.

Third on live currently: MagPlars have 4 dots three of them have the same timer. 2 buffs channeled accel and their sustain buff( doesnt need to be prioritized if on breton). and an execute which is channeled so less LA weave req in execute. No punishment for recasting dots or buffs early. THEY ALSO HAVE A SYNERGY PROVIDING SOME GROUP UTILITY (extra bonus).

Mag blades: 3 dot 2 have same timer. both 8 second timers on seperate bars. 3 buffs channeled accel, merciless, and siphoning attacks. In order to do max damage you need to hit your bow proc every 5 light attacks. This increases number of bar swaps and makes it hard to push high numbers with low LA ratio. If you want to sustain you must let siphoning run out.
Ulti increases damage for 6 seconds after cast so you have to make sure you use it while all dots are down and bow proc is ready.
My point in general you have to think so much more about your next move on a MagBlade than you do on a MagPlar. While once you have the rotation down it may not seem so difficult the reality someone trying to learn a Blades rotation is much harder than learning a Magplar rotation,

One specifically says PvE in the title so id say youre argument is invalid about PvP ( I dont PvP much so I dont want to be involved in that discussion). Two i didnt specifically say nerf magplar as much as i said Blades dps should be higher. 3 Ive played both classes quite a bit and at least sorcs have a proc skill (non- heavypull builds) that needs to be watched and Dedric prey does not have the same timer as other skills (blah blah blah). All I am saying that if i class has a harder rotation its dps should reflect the harder rotation.

In top end PC score running groups, magblades pull more ST damage than magplar and synergize better with slayer. You just don't see many parses because everyone is playing stamblades in all the content except cloudrest.
