Dear Zos - Separate PVE and PVP

If you guys want to be another game which does PVE and PVP content, great and all that but seriously, it's not well done right now. The PVE content is very different from PVP and I have yet to see a game which creates any semblance of balance when trying to co-mingle these play styles.

Suggestion - Separate them completely.

Abilities, gear, harvest items, in short everything should be separate. Add another tag where the ability or gear is PVE or PVP. Unless you are in a PVP zone, you cant equip any PVP armor and abilities are unusable. How many changes one way or the other is a result of something working fine in one environment but not the other and the first inclination is whip out the nerf bat. No one likes to see their toons nerfed. No one I have ever met anyway. This is a serious undertaking but may be worth it in the long run.

Another byproduct of this change would be disabling CP all together in PVP. Enable CP only for PVE and increase the caps and let the PVE'ers march forward.

It seems most of the PVP players really want more of a challenge and level playing field, this should get you there. PVE players tend to have a bit differently mentality when it comes to play. PVP is more console type of FPS - its me against you. I have met very, very few real pvp'ers that care anything about quests, decorating, content completion etc. Its more about my gear is BIS and racking up the kills on the leader board.

As to events - why force your players into a completely different play style to participate in the event? There should be a PVE and PVP method to achieve the event rewards for the duration of any/all events.

My 2 cents worth. Cheers.

This isn’t a thing. Quit trying to make it a thing.

Really the better way to do it would be to just use the Battle Spirit style, have things behave differently in PvP. That way PvP gets all the nerfs it begs for and PvE doesn't get screwed over by it. While at the same time nobody gets completely locked out of using any abilities or equipment.

This will lessen the impact on players, as nobody looses their build. It would just allow ZoS to make changes to PvE and PvP seperately from now on.

We obviously don't know the same PvPers. My friends who prefer PvP have the best houses!

ZOS wants each player to take part in as many game aspects as possible. In this event, you have the option of just eating your cake each day and not worrying about boxes until it turns to dungeons. You can buy the style pages if you wish. Or ask to trade your PvPer friends for the Sai Sahan pages from next week.

Also, why are you lumping all PvErs into the same basket? Do you think all crafters enjoy trials and vice-versa?

This is the game the developers envisioned. You either like this vision or you don't. Stop suggesting that their vision needs to change to better suit you. Some of us really enjoy all aspects of the game

I agree. Trying to do both has meant that neither has ben done as well as they could be.

What's interesting is that it seems like it would be possible to do this. Nightblade skill "teleport strike" stuns NPCs, but snares players. Two functions for two different types of targets or content. Why not implement this for other skills? Does it add too many more calculations to servers?

Agreed with the seperate part, but there is a reason they vary up the events. They want people from both camps to do each activity. They could have easily made clone undaunted skills for instance <warhorn> but choose not too.

While I wholeheartedly agree with the OP, I think ZOS is a little too far down the rabbit hole to make that kind of change. It's a hole they've dug themselves into and since the new leader of the shovel crew is a PVP guy, things are likely to only get worse. Personally, I will adapt, but things really could be so much better if PVP and PVE could exist as completely separate entities.

    No just NO...

Its not two games its one. I like to know my build and know it do the same.
If you only like one part of the game and not the others. Its the wrong game you are playing.

What you describe is not ESO but a completely different game like SWTOR.

Embrace the freedom ESO provides my friend.
