How does the Jubilee event effect the motif market?

I have not been a part of this event before. I have a bunch 20k/g motifs I've collected in my bank I've been waiting to sell. If the market crashes I just want to learn them. Are the motif drops pretty common in the rewards? Thanks for the info.

Get ready for a crash and burn

They’ll tank really hard about a week or so in, steady decline til the end of the fest, then slowly rise again but never to quite the same prices

It’s a great time time buy, a terrible time to sell

Edit: that said, you can try to sell them undercut before the event starts and cash in before their value drops, then rebuy the ones you need later at a cheaper price

This will be my first anniversary event, but everywhere I read people say that it crashes the motif market for a few months. I've been encouraged to sell all of my motifs the past month.
"Hello, Skellington Pal! How are you today? Bone dry, you say? I’d offer you a glass of water, but it’d all fall through! I need more coffee."

People get extra motifs and are torn between selling them and using them.

Don't forget that this event lasts 3 weeks longer than usual, so the market will collapse even harder than before and will probably take longer to recover.

I've learned all but a few motifs, so I'll be able to sell quite a bit of what I get, so selling them cheaper won't be a problem for me - I'll still make gold. Plus, I'll be able to pick up the few I don't know much cheaper. Last year, I completed all motifs shortly before the Anniversary Event, spending more money than I would have if I had waited, but I had forgotten about the event.

This past year, while there were some motifs I bought (mostly pages to finish off a set I had been collecting via gameplay), I've held off on several specifically to buy during this event, such as Welkynar and Huntsman.

ETA: It also tanks the provisioning recipe market, since many do crafting writs to get Anniversary boxes. This year, only week 1 and week 5 will count, but it's still 2 weeks worth of extra provisioning recipes flooding the market. Not to mention that the market for blue furnishing plans tanks due to all the plans in the boxes. Not sure if they'll be included in the boxes this year or not, but last year they were.

Fortunately for us PvP players, Militant Ordinator is not an event drop ... and thus does not crash.

An added benefit for the buyers is that, if the list on PTS is the one that goes live, it includes Welkynar, Silver Dawn, and Huntsman - the three styles which, last I checked, would each set you back the better part of a million gold, hopefully bumping them down a bit in price.

As already said, it's phenomenal for the buyers. Less so for the sellers.

The market crashes pretty quickly as the drops are super common. Sell before the event starts or wait a few months after it ends.

20k motifs drop to <5k in a few days.

As a word of advice, it's never smart to hold onto motifs as their value can only come down as more people acquire them (even without the anniversary event). The only ones worth holding onto are event-exclusive motifs that you acquire at the tail end of an event. You want to sell those a few months after the event ends.

Been trough two of them, and yes the rule of the game is to undercut to not getting burned.
Note you also have the new outfit styles. Sai Sahan chest will obvious be the most valuable because the look and the hardest to farm as its limit how many pledges you can do each day.
Grinding just make you go in circles.

If you need to learn motifs, these events are great. However, I just sold the last group of motifs I farmed at last years events two weeks ago. And, I only farmed a couple of days.

Now, this with the Jester event, things were changed on the containers so peeps got less motifs. Perhaps that will apply to the motifs this time around.

Myself, I can pull 105 writ containers a day, and, for me the motif drop rate is too high. For others who do less, its probably the opposite.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I blew out my entire inventory of motifs over the last two days. It's not just that they will be worth way less, there is the number of storage and selling slots you have. I find it stressful to be a good guildie in multiple trading guilds, so I only have one. That means 30 slots to keep things rolling through while invetory piles up from event boxes.

I didn't create the system so I won't appologize for it, but I'm about to be part of the biggest crash yet. EVERYTHING MUST GO!

Which motifs are you referring to? Because according to event page only the 4 companions motifs are includes nothing else.

So it won't affect all motifs, but those 4 only.

Yeah, but the event announcement didn't mention motifs. Unless they just lumped them into "crafting mats"

I'm happy to hear they are still there.

    From your linked page:
Each time you complete one of the week’s daily activities, you’ll earn an Anniversary Jubilee Gift Box, containing rare crafting ingredients (even Aetheric Ciphers!), recipes, and on occasion, a Motif Chapter for almost any motif in the game, including Worm Cult.

On the reverse side last time materials for crafting increased in price quite a bit as players didn't plan ahead for all the crafting.

They probably don't design drops with people who grind as much as they can on 15 characters in mind....

5 Weeks of Motif-Chapter drops means a really, really, really, RRREEEEAAAAALLLLLLLLLYYYYY HUGE drop in prices all accross the board for 99% of the Motifs *YEAH* *CHEER* ..!

My guess is that Motif-Chapters from Motifs like the Welkynar Motif for example, which are sold at prices between 100,000g and 200,000g will drop - if the drop-rate isn't that bad - down to a price ranging from 20,000g to 50,000g and won't got that far up again after the Event (maybe back to something between 40,000g and 120,000g)... Just take a look at the Buoyant Armiger Motif-Chapters, which can only be found in the Treasure Chests in Vvardenfell (Morrowind Chapter)… They once were sold for something between 200,000g and 400,000g, but during last years Anni-Event the price droped to something around 30,000g to 50,000g and after the Event only went back up to something between 50,000g and 80,000g :D … This year those prices will drop again, but this time - depending on the drop rate - to something around 20,000g and 40,000g

It is the best time of the year for all Motif-Collectors and Crafters who are missing motifs… They can get them for free or buy them cheap :smirk:

    Best regards
    Shadow

As an achievement hunter and a collector with 2 million gold at the ready, I am very prepared to go broke buying cheap cheap cheap motifs near the end of the event!!!

The only problem with this that I see is that it'll quickly diminish some content's relevancy. No need to farm world boss dailys when you have all of the motifs after the event, yeah?

    How about no?

If you think the only reason players run content is to get motif drops ... think again.

Not to mention there are always new players joining the game with zero (0) motif chapters learned.
