Group Finder Tool even more bugged than usually

Just now a friend and I were queuing for BGs as a group. Besides the usual "will it, won't it" theater around groups being formed and the activity actually starting, there was another new bug:
2 out of 5 times, when we got the the "Forming Group" stage my friend got into the BG, while I was left in whatever region of Tamriel I was in at the time (Auridon and Rift).
The first time around I got another group finder pop-up asking me if I wanted to join a group. I assumed it would be the usual bug, but right after I accepted it I was being told that this ominous "someone" the Group Finder keeps jabbering on about did not accept the invitation. But instead of being requeued, which would normally happen, I got kicked out of the queue entirely - which makes kind of sense, given that the activity I queued for already started.
The second time this did not happen. Instead I got a message reading "Cannot determine compatible region".
Please fix the Group Finder tool. The next Group Finder event is lurking out there somewhere.
