What did I just pick up from the Crown Store? A new quest?

Was browsing the Crown Store and saw something I never saw before. I clicked on it and since it was free, I got it. So now I see I got a letter from Abner Thawn. (spelling?) So I believe this is to start some quest, but I don't' recall reading anything about this. Has this been here and I never noticed it, or is it something new? If new, when did it come out, and what is it for? What will happen if I go see Abner Thawn.

Since I have no idea what this is, or what it entails, and if it is a quest, I am a bit leary of doing it. Just like to know about this since it's so new to me, and not a clue what it is.

its the elyswer prelog - it has been advertised.

its worth doing, you get a cool momento. i wont spoil the anim cut scene at the end, but thats pretty neat too

Thank you so much. I didn't know that it was the prelog quest. I thought the prelog quest was when they released the latest DLC dungeons in January.

Will go off and start if off now.

It is the introductory quest for the new Chapter that is coming out in June.

You can get the quest from a quest giver in your character's main starting city, or by purchasing the free item from the Crown Store.

The quest you purchased will lead you to Abner Tharn, and will progress from there.

There is no harm in doing the quest and it does not interfere with other quests. It provides the backstory for the Elsweyr announce video that was shown earlier this year. I do not consider this to be a spoiler quest.

It is also entirely optional. You can choose to abandon, or just ignore, the quest. You can do it before or after the release of the Chapter. You can simply never do it, if you want.

Usually every story Chaapter/DLC has a prologue quest, which can be found either as an item from the crown store or by finding a NPC in game.

The latest 2 (Mirkmire & Elswyr) have daily quests that doing the 'prologue' opens up as well..

Daily quests? I believe I don't the Mirkmire prologue quest, and don't recall any dailes there. What did I miss or misunderstand?

Daily quests? I believe I don't the Mirkmire prologue quest, and don't recall any dailes there. What did I miss or misunderstand?

aftter you do the murkmire quest, the murkmire dailys are gettable from shadowfen . see here

The daily quests, there are 9, are also optional. All 9 can be done every day. For Elsweyr, they drop parts of a runebox that unlock the Guar Stomp emote.

I've not seen this emote.

That final cave, did you guys notice the graphics? Just beautiful and quite detailed. Plants, trees even the stairs pop out. Nice improvement even over summerset.
