Magicka Needs Another Weapons Type

I am not gonna rant or be angry about it like some people tend to do. Just going to say, that Magicka DD has one weapon only. Destruction Staff. Can we please just get a rune or no weapon at all and use bare hands to cast spells? Or does ZoS love everyone using the same sticks? lmao

I mean, we have

TANKING: Frost Staff & 1H&S
MAGICKA: Flame / Lightning Staff
STAMINA: 2H, DW, Bow

We have Axes, Hammers, Swords, Daggers... all which are great... Then we have Destro staff. Two types, same look, one AoE one ST. If ZoS can put their name on this and be proud, then that is on them. For an TES game, this is insulting at best. I love ESO, the world is wonderful and lively. The ways to play are fun and creative. But dang, I would like to have a no staff option for Magicka so I can finally try a Magicka build lol. Currently refuse to ever use a Staff, so I go always Stamina on all my characters. I am asking here today that ZoS please listen to the requests I have seen over the years for another Magicka weapon that is not a staff. 1H and Rune, Runes, No Weapon (Bare hands), Conjured Weapon. I do not really care what, just for the love of Vivec can it not be a staff for a change (had 5 years now).

That is all, thank you for any who provide insightful additional comments. Lets hope, that if we make this a known concern for another 5 years that ZoS will listen and add something that is for Magicka that is not a Staff :)

    Which, to that end brings me to something I dislike about how ZoS did Necros. My undead will be Fire, Frost, and/or lightning?
    I am raising the dead, with elements to it? I expected like Oblivion damage style undead, not an electric skeleton. Personally, I feel the elemental vibe added to Necro will ruin it for me. Really did not care for that lol.

    Frost staff is really worst than one hand shield..it does not give the same amount of armor and resistances to begin with. It only restores magicka when heavy attacking..And from a pvp perspective, Magicka tanks are just not really viable..you use stamina to block.

    Oblivion Damage doesn't scale with any stats, and bypasses all forms of damage resistance. This would make necromancers useless in PVE, and broken in PVP. The closest you could hope for was Magic Damage, like Nightblade.

    You know, the bracelets are a really clever idea! I like that! Hire this person ZoS get someone with creativity in there!

    You are missing the point, but sure call it magic damage or whatever type that works. Point is not the damage type, I am speaking of the theme here. But you knew that already.

    I would be down for magic damage staffs, Runes and or soul gem like things that float round with you. Also adding skill lines for specific staff types would be the best options.

    Well, 2 classes (as of the next expansion) and 3 guild skill lines have been introduced since 2014.

    Maybe we're due for a new weapon type or two next year?

    Solution Part 1:
    Rework Psijic Skill Imbue Weapons to
    Adds major brutality on morph 1
    Adds major sorcery and converts melee weapons to magic damage for duration on morph 2

    Solution Part 2:
    Add new skill line for 1H magic weapon
    Options could be wand, orb, magic dagger and magic shield, etc.

    Imo, Destruction needs to be separated into 3 Categories.

    Frost
    Fire
    Lightning

    This will put it directly inline with Stamina DPS

    That's scurrying further down the insane rabbit hole.

    Magic is magic. Physical weapons are physical.

    Class magic abilities shouldn't have stamina morphs. It's crazy.

    Then again, there either shouldn't be classes at all or at least there should ones which aren't forced to use magic. Not eveyrone is into it.

    Wands would be nice. Duel wanding would be fun and could act damage wise like a staff just with different animations. Anything to have another visual option.

    We need a Conjuration skill line or 2 and have conjured bows, swords,axes,maces,daggers... etc which would scale off Magicka.

    So we could make magicka melee a thing which would help magicka greatly.

    One time the game glitched on my Tank and all my Frost staff animations were happening on my S&B bar and vice versa...was very amusing to puncture with an ice staff and cast elemental drain with S&B.

    It would be cool, but classes are pretty magic focused.

    I'd like to see the next patch to add polearms/warhammer ect and add to stams options

    I want this now more than ever.

    One of my characters is a magicka-based dragonknight. For character development reasons, he does not use staves; he uses dual swords and a sword + shield. This creates some interesting challenges for resource management, but it's a challenge I've embraced. He uses infused weapons with flame enchantments that do most of his damage for light and heavy attacks, and I've just learned to watch his magicka bar like a hawk during protracted fights like soloing world bosses. It works pretty well, all things considered.

    Next patch, they are halving the effectiveness of 1-handed weapon enchantments.

    I don't usually get upset about changes to this game, but this one is on my short list of changes that really ticks me off. I'm really concerned about how this is going to impact this character. When you have to be conservative in using magicka abilities, weapon enchantments make up for that difference. What is that going to look like after this ill-concieved change goes through? I know it's going to be bad. I can't PTS, so I don't know how bad. Am I going to have to shelve the character entirely because of this change? Just gut him as a magicka character and make him a hybrid? I don't know.

    What I do know is that Zenimax releasing a magicka-based melee weapon line would bypass this problem entirely.

    Do it. Do it NOW.
