Why do the daily rewards go on cooldown when I change characters?

Is there a reason why this is happening? Tonight I first logged into a low level alt to check some crafting cooldowns. I saw the daily reward CD is off but didn't claim it. I logged onto another character: daily reward CD 24h.

What the hell is wrong with this stuff? This clearly shouldn't happen, should it?

Seems like it shouldn't - and I did the same today, and it didn't for me. Very odd.

When you log between characters without collecting the prize it prompts you again before character select screen. you may have pressed accept to get out of the dialog. See if the first character took the prize.

Nope, I didn't claim it. It just went on cooldown without giving me the reward and now I won't be able to get all of the February bonuses because I missed one.

There are at least 3+ other threads about this, and to my knowledge it has never been acknowledged by ZOS.

Usually the "good" reward is about 3 weeks into the month so you can safely miss a few days.

This month it's only a dress.

Yeah I know, it's just 5000 gold I won't get but it's quite annoying because I did nothing wrong. I just didn't claim the reward on the first character I logged in after the CD went off and that was my online fault...
