Vampire Feeding Rework and Stages Overhaul
There are players talking about wanting them to stage four vampirism tied to the justice system. Was going to post about they needing to do a rework feeding system like this but I felt it needed its own thread.
Right now Feeding Requires Sneaking and not being spotted. Or under suspicion by the target npc. Which is annoying and seriously limits the vampire and does not make it easy when it comes to reducing stages unless you buy the bloody mara drink .
Right now I do not think you can animation cancel or stop feeding. Also targets cannot break away from it from what I understand. The Vampires main signature trait is drinking blood for sustenance just like werewolves need to eat the hearts of their foes in order to stay in form. Vampirism should be able to feed as if its a viable skill in both pve and pvp. They should not have to sneak in order to do so. Making it much easier to feed I feel is a must to make vampires truly vampires. Feeding should be a viable option for vampire builds. A sneak feed should be able to do damage while also being easy to escape it if your a player so if you use sprint you are able to escape. A non sneak feed should have a one second stun but very easy to escape by sprinting away from it. Because it would be bad if there was not an option to escape it in pvp. They should also be able to feed on animals like the vampires in daggerfall game. Aka let vampires feed on camels and other animals for sustenance.
Vampire should advance by feeding just like the werewolf. They should be required to feed and feast on humanoids and animals in order to advance. The only way I would be fine with a stage four being seen added to the bounty system is if they make feeding able to be done anytime without sneaking. And making it required for vampire advancement.
There needs to be a balance trade off with the stages system. Stronger while well fed in terms of damage vampire abilties do. So it would be like this, Stage one increased damage done by vampire abilties by 15 percent. While at Night damage increased by 10 percent so when zones are at night time their vampire abilties are 25 percent stronger but only in stage one. Health Regeneration increased while in stage one by 15 percent, ten percent at night. Only in stage one.
Stage 2 and above like it is ten percent increase in regeneration for stamina. Everything as it is now in terms of vampire passives for the rest of the stages. So it would give two paths for vampires and make feeding viable when it comes to ability dps. So Vampires should be at their most strongest damage when well fed while faster and able to do a lot more when they are hungry.
With the changes I'm talking about when it comes feeding when standing and running. Plus having a buffed up damage bonus and health regen for stage one. i believe will be the right step when it comes to vampires. This would allow one vampires to shine and be much more then just a pvp/pve stage four build for resources gained from stamina and magkicka undeadth. This would give vampires more options. I feel if they do this and they don't even need to give them at night bonus just the 15 percent more damage for vampire abilties and 15 percent increased health regen in stage one. So you have the trade off of decreased ability cost at later stages and vampire dps if well fed. Giving players reasons to feed and not just let themselves go could improve the overall vampire and roleplaying experience.
Wanted to talk about Vampire fire weakness, vampires should have a much greater weakness to it. It might anger those who use it for meta with magicka but I really think fire should be a lot more punishing. 15 percent fire weakness stage one, 25 percent fire weakness at stage two, 35 percent at stage three. 50 percent at stage 4 and Dunmer Fire Passive will not add any protection to fire. So If your a dunmer and a vampire you would take full damage from fire or even more fire damage as if you didn't have the trait at all, but be immune to the fire over time status effect.
