KILLING and winning. Reading hate tells. Tbagging folks I don’t like. Writing hate tells.

Plus it’s just exciting. What little farming I do, I do in Cyrodill. That a truly thinking thing is trying to kill me is exciting. I pvp everyday.

Winning against a person is different than winning against a learned mechanic. One is not better than the other IMO. I just find the former more enjoyable once I do win. The latter is fun as well but it is not the same when I win.

Beating VMA for the first time was cool
Winning against the first grand master in PVP(1 on 1) was way better. Took me way longer to develop those skills as well.

    hope that is slightly helpful..

Sure.. winning goes both ways in PvP and PvE. It's similar feeling when you solo world bosses or dungeons (or vet), or getting Flawless D on vMA for the first time. For PvP (in Cyrodiil and dueling), I win and lose the same, Yet, I don't feel the same accomplishment when beating another player than beating a 2-5 mil HP world boss (particularly DLC ones by yourself.) I mean, I'm definitely not the greatest at PvP, but I was able to hold my own and took out 2 higher rankings against me once in a while, or get beat by another on 1v1 the same.

Typically, I would go into PvP with a new stam toon (for Vigor and Caltrops) when it's still leveling and non-CP level, and I was still able to defeat players here and there; even a Grand Overlord here and there. However, it was like, ehh, ok, done, where's the next zerg fight or keep attack? With PvP, you're always winning and losing all the same. I guess I'm more of a PvEer because I don't die no where near as often as I do in PvP, ha ha. I feel good being able to smack a 25-30k wallop with my Dizzy Swing in combo with other strikes and skills. I don't get that in PvP. Smacking dudes 5k, 6k here and there (when it does connect) just doesn't do it for me. Of course you're not going to be smashing 20k on a player.

Hell, my one toon that I use for PvP has been stuck on the rank of Colonel for 3 years; which, I only go into PvP sporadically. Well, I'm going to take it into this Midyear Mayhem thing and probably make the next rank; but, that's probably it. I took a new stam toon in this current Mayhem and after getting the 6th rank of Assault and unlocking Caltrops, that is it for me for awhile; probably won't take another toon into it for another few days. I still need Vigor and Caltrops for another new stam toon.

I'm not hating on PvP. Apparently, it is appealing to a lot of peeps. There are plenty of peeps in the higher ranks General and above to Grand Overlord rolling around. However, it doesn't matter what ranks or title you are, everybody dies the same in one way, shape, or form in PvP. Ok, to each their own, I rarely drink alcoholic beverages, and I have tried wine several times, and to me wine and any other alcoholic beverages are an acquired taste. To me, it is just bitter and doesn't taste good. Thus, I have never acquired the taste for wine or whatnot. Comparatively, I view PvP as an acquired taste as wine and so on. Going on four years now into ESO, and I still haven't acquire the taste for PvP. All the while, you're killing other players and getting killed, smashing zergs and getting trampled by zergs all the same over and over again. Ok, sure, PvE is repetitive as well, but not as much as PvP. PvP is just so repetitive consecutively and continuously; this is what is not so enjoyable or appealing to me.

I'm not looking for a "maybe you should do this, do that.." No, the several years I have been in this game, I already known what I should do and shouldn't do. Maybe you all can somehow influence me or change my view of PvP; maybe not.. Anyways, keep this civil, please..

There is nothing appealing to how you explain pvp.. Join a small PVP guild .. PVP with a group of people 3 to 6 people and figuring out optimal builds and combinations .. kill 12 with your 6 and you will understand... avoid Vevic honestly try the lower pop servers.during primetime... Make friends with pvpers.. Join teamspeak..... everything is dynamic in this playstyle, the maps are constantly different and the is always drama from the enemy..

PVP would be so much better if you can get rid of the stack groups that drain the servers in performance... Eliminate battle grouping no grouping support beyond 12 just like the rest of the game...

It would appear too many PvP players play it just to show ''How good they are at PvP'', while ganking everyone on the road. A pity, but a reality nonetheless.

I hear you. One situation still stuck with me as it is as humorous and bs the same. I was on my lowbie which I was of course leveling up (it was like in the level 33 or something), and this other alliance stamblade (about the higher 600 CP) that was always trying to pick peeps off on the side by a keep kept trying to take me out. I'm sure because as my toon is a lower non-CP, it would be an easy picking. However, whatever he did, he couldn't kill me. I was on my stamblade as well, and I would pop him with Piercing Mark to get him visible, and my other peeps would then kill him. He keeps coming back, and I would do the same with the Mark, and he would get killed a few times over. I actually was able to kill him myself one time. Then, some time later, I was galloping along to a fight at a keep, and all of sudden I was hit, knocked off my mount, immobilized and then instantaneously finished off by an Incapacitating Strike. I saw it was that same stamblade. Well, he got his kill or revenge. Couldn't do it in a face to face fight, tho. He had to gank me while on my mount. I was pissed as well as laughing at the same time. Ha ha

I cringed every time you used the word "peeps."

Not sure how the randomized human element of PvP is somehow more repetitive than the scripted environment that is PvE. Its not a charge against either mode but you harp on repetitiveness quite a lot and I think if you objectively consider each mode I don't know how you come out with PvP is more repetitive.

The “pvp” so to speak is predominately pvdoor as they used to say in guildwars 2. Running around a mostly empty map taking empty keeps til everyone logs and the other side then logs in and flips it back

Thats been cyrodiil for the last 4 years.

With a minority of lifers who run around with organized groups and multiple back up healers posting videos of them ganking people solo or engaged in pve content.

I dislike solo questing. I like dungeons, trials and pvp. Content with real people.

In regards to pvp it is so much more satisfying to beat another player. To know it’s a real person not a scripted AI.

That’s why FPS games are a thing still. The premise hasn’t changed since I played quake 1 and duke nukem on lan in the 90s.

I don't get PvP in MMOs, especially ones like ESO.

    - PvE and PvP aren't balanced separately in this game.

    - In order to acquire PvP gear, you need to do PvE content.

    - Success is tied to level and gear, rather than player skill.

I love PvP games. I have thousands of hours in shooters and MOBAs. But I just don't get the appeal of MMO PvP. The balance is terrible and you often need to dabble in PvE to be competitive. But most importantly, those who have spent more time in the game can beat someone who has spent less time, even though they might be less skilled.

Success is actually not tied to gear and level. To a certain point yes. Even a good CP 160 would hve trouble beating someone decent at CP 810. But aside from that no set in the game will keep you alive against a good player if you don’t know what you’re doing as well.

Having the actual potential to outperform other players. Its an activity where the win condition is often determined by your own actions (for thr most part) and ability over another player, which is a gratifying experience. Encounters are dynamic and volatile, sometimes grossly stacked against you, but most who truly love pvp in mmos understand this and accept that its often not a fair fight. Doing well at pvp is generally equivalent to the appeal in fighting games, not in the 1v1 no nonsense factor but in the sense that the time you invest in improving is shown in your performance first hand and is not exclusively reliant on arbitrary rewards on a character sheet or profile.

Its the satisfaction of knowing you can apply yourself and influence the odds of an encounter beyond memorizing heavily scripted mechancis and numerical optimization via character power. Its the type of theory of yin & yang - for every moment of joy and satisfaction, there is someone who is equally frustrated or angry as a result from your actions that led to your positive mood. Its just the competitive nature in people that makes them play sports or any vs game. The same psyche comes into video games all the same.

Now that all being said lol, i dont consider cyrodil a good example of this. There is no consequence, and large scale battles place very little burden of performance on individuals. Cyrdoil is a VERY vasual pvp experience at its core and many that spend time there fall into the catagory of player that is engaged by the theatrics of something. The IDEA of a large scale fight with tons of players bashing away at fort walls and whatnot, is a very exciting prospect for many regardless of any meaningful exchanges with other players where they have to actually outplay them. As long as them can set up seiges, drop oil and throw out aoes in the midst of 50 plus players, that is all the thrills they need.

Then you have the players that role around in small groups. This is becuase of the other inherent human nature - the desire to overcome odds stacked against you. People like being the underdog, the disadvantaged champ coming out on top. We love seeing it on screen we love trying to acheive it in a game (its one of the reasons BRs are so appealing). Cyrodil is really the only place to try and fish for an experience like that. Its also one of the most hilarious points of contention when people get into arguments regarding pvp prowess - "1vX is legit and what i only do!" "You are a zerg surfing Xv1er, who cant say anything!" etc etc. Its the idea of simultaneously desiring an encounter where your absolute ability is in full demand and imposing an artificial handicap on yourself to get that certain high when you come out on top. Blind fighters, drunken masters etc etc its all in the dna.

I just like the idea of a large map with castles and 3 alliances struggling for supremacy.

Sieging, large armies collapsing, defending keeps. Man, i just love it.

I will not say ESO has the best mechanics for this (won't get into detail but one for me is proc sets) but there are currently no other games that have this.

I look forward to the game Bannerlord for this though although it's only 1 defender team and 1 attacker team in castle siege. And its predecessor is hardly played anymore.

also i like the ESO community and it's plain fun when lag doesn't ruin your game.

Bless you all for those being able to enjoy PvP so much. As for me, gave it another boy scout try and.. nahh, PvP is not for me. Hours and hours wait for queue and then too many loading screen pop ups during engagements. I can't count how many times that damn screen pops up when in the midst of taking a keep or defending, and if I haven't crash yet and finally comes back on, the fight is over and lost out on the AP and such; or my toon is already dead. Ha ha. Anyways.. already too much crapshoots going on in PvE land. Life is not long enough to compile more of PvP crapshoots. You all enjoy the Midyear event and PvP as much as you all that can. After playing enough PvP, nearly every encounter except for a few can be predicted. You can predict how a fight will start, go and end against certain classes. Sometimes it's easier, sometimes it's harder, ultimately it stays same, just like in PvE when you had enough practice.
