Stuck on the play screen

For some reason, for the first time hitting play on the play screen is not producing a response. The game won't start and progress to the sign in screen. I've tried turning off the anti virus and firewalls but still not result. Also tried restarting the pc. I don't play through Steam. Any ideas?
