Can i link eso and steam account and use it as one?

I have account on eso main site and wanted to know that if I purchased the eso game on steam platform and link steam account with existing eso account. Then will i be able to use my existing eso account on steam platform?

    If your version of The Elder Scrolls Online was not purchased through Steam, you will not be able to link your Steam account to your existing ESO account without purchasing a new copy of the game on the Steam platform first.

    Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Dont do that even if its working! Steam will just lock u out of the game on every second patch for up to a week!

    So i need to purchase a copy of eso from steam platform in order to link both of my accounts.

    Hey I've got the opposite problem, can I buy the game normally and link it to my steam version so I can login without steam? @ZOS_BillE

    Be warned, you can only link 1 account to steam, that account becomes locked to logging only through steam, and if steam is down then you can't login at all until it has been resolved. Right now, steam is bugging out thinking you don't have an installation of the game on your PC and will reinstall it, doubling its size.

    Don't do it!! Steam is HORRIBLE. Literally all of the non-maintenance downtime I've ever had in this game has been Steam crapping itself! Last night it made me redownload my whole game TWICE IN A ROW. If you are currently Steam-free, count yourself among the blessed.
