Placed in a queue to log in

PC EU and just went to log in and received a small window stating I was placed in a queue to log in and that it could be up to 30 seconds.

It has been slow for a few days and while I cannot recall ever getting this message over the years I am surprised I would get this message this week during what is likely the slowest time of the year for MMORPGs.

Has anyone else seen this before?

I had it once last week on PC EU, but it was gone before I'd really taken it in. I'd say it was a momentary glitch, although the server has been generally busy and not just in the New Life event areas.

I get it occasionally logging into PC-NA from Australia.

My time in queue is always about as long for the prompt to appear and disappear.

Honestly, I think it is triggered by something else (an internet blip) than an actual queue to manage concurrent players.

In my experience, this couple of holiday weeks is one of the busiest times (outside of summer) for people playing MMOs. I have had login issues (not queuing, just taking a long time, lots of clicks) ever since the 20th, so I think there's a lot of people in the US out of school, on vacation etc.

In WoW and RIFT, my only previous MMOs, I would manage to log in for the gifty things, and then just log back out, because there were WAY too many people around. Of course, I haven't played either game in years now, and things might be different with them at this time. Here, aside from login issues (and getting logged out with a message I have no connection, when I actually have a connection that works for my browser and my email *SIGH*), I've been able to do whatever I had in mind to do - but there are TONS of people around during my "play day" which is 7 am to 4 pm US MT.

This is interesting. I just downloaded the game on my new rig and clicking play in the launcher won't even start the game up. I wonder if it's all related. Some sorta glitch maybe? Hoping it's not my Mac, in any case.

Rarely but it has happened to me, PCNA States side. It's just the handshake bottleneck, common problem with large networks.

I rarely get a login queue, but when I do it only lasts for 3-5 seconds.

That brief window pops up most times I log in to PC EU in the evenings. Never more than a few seconds, though.

I just got an 8 minute log in queue, rarely happened before and only then a few seconds. I though these were “Mega” servers? 🤔

While hardly an inconvenience in the scheme of things, this coupled with the slow creep of various slight performance drops since the few patches ( for me at least ) and the ever present memory leak I am paused to wonder if this game will ever run as well as it used to.
