Sailor's Warning Festival Grog - Not getting from Breda

Hi all,

After finishing quests in New Life Festival, at random encounters you might be awarded Sailor's Warning Festival Grog. When I check my inventory I never get it when Breda rewards it. To be certain I bought 1 from the traveling vendor at the tent, and that one showed up under my drinks. The one Breda rewards me, never shows up. Last year I ended up with a bunch of these...

Not a major bug, but a bug.

-Thanks

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard Paladin and wielder of Chrysamere; he has been blessed to save Nirn from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. Further accomplishments, he has also stopped the destruction of Morrowind, Clockwork City and returned order to the isle of Summerset. These events have made him a legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including Queen Aryenn. (not only Sai Sahan has a secret snowflake!)

During his adventurous travels, he typically is a loner but has made an allegiance with a small group of the Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah currently reside in the Alik'r desert and include: Cacique Yokuda a Shaman who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca. Cacique leads the group in a daily prayer whenever he is out on his hunts. Kalik can mystically hear the prayers Cacique whispers in the desert to keep his friend safe before battles. In Sentinel, one of King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguards the Goliath of Hammerfell asked to join them after witnessing the defeat of the Withered Hand. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with clearing delves and dungeons when necessary. Juks a master thief that frequents the Sisters of the Sands inn knows how to infiltrate any bank vault or lowly bandit hideout without detection, but Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the thief. Juks found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long on a full-mooned night and because of his greed, lost two fingertips as a lesson! Last but not least the conjurer of magical pets, Kaotik Von’Daemon. Kaotik an outcast pariah due to his conjuration of magical pets, met Kalik while traveling from Alik'r to an arena in Wrothgar by caravan. During this trip, the caravan was ambushed in Bangkorai by a large group of bandits (former Imperial soldiers) fleeing the destroyed Imperial City in Cyrodiil. Kalik by happenstance was traveling thru this area on his Auridon warhorse (which previously belonged to Darien Gautier) and he was able to save the fellow Ash'abah tribesman while also dispatching most of the bandits to an early grave. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel but always know what each other is doing as they frequent a hideout in Sentinel's inn. Their hideout is a kept by Nuzhimeh and as she passes messages written between them, they also enjoy her company and her bed.

After the caravan battle, Kalik spared four other men besides his tribesman Kaotik from the bandits. Three of the four men also being held captive, were only alive because of their relation to Abnur Tharn the Imperial Battlemage of the Elder Council (also one of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). These three men are Tyrus Septim a scholar and advisor to the Tharn family, Cinan Tharn a pompous treasure hunting grand-nephew of Abnur Tharn and Herzog Zwei the Genesis, a Breton Cleric who was only seeking to purchase artifacts from Cinan Tharn, including a long lost Ayelid sword named Sinweaver, and possibly a suit of armor that the King of Worms, Manimarco once wore. After their rescue and the exchange of gold for these rare items, the Redguards, Imperials and Breton men parted ways. The remaining Dunmer captive looked familiar...

The Dunmer and fourth man spared was Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Morrowind. During a rough interrogation, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. Tythis was providing his slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The Imperial bandits were negotiating Andromo with House Telvanni for a lucrative ransom. Kalik could never free Tythis due to his slavery and war crimes, but he chose not to execute him either. The worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be a manservant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

I haven't seen any, and I've gotten a lot of the quests done. It's possible it's not dropping this year?

    @Alassirana

In Breda's quest rewards (not every time it was random) Breda gives you the Grog herself. She maybe gives it 2/9 daily for each character.

    It will be listed
    • Gold
    • New Life Gift package
    • Sailor's Warning Festival Grog

Then look at the left side of your screen where the item floats up when you receive something. You get the Gold and Gift Package, but never get the Grog.

The vendor in the tent does sell them though. I only used them for screenshots and visual for effects.

    Hey all,

We looked into this and found what is causing the confusion. To add the Mysterious Reward Boxes to the New Life Festival, we had to remove a few low-value rewards from the daily quests but they are still showing up in the UI. That's why it appears that you are receiving the Sailor's Warning Festival Grog but it never shows up in your inventory.

What is the solution? Delete some low-value items from our Inventory OR ZOS fix UI?

    Confusing. :/

.....That's not really how computers work...... or games like this. If your statement is accurate, I shudder to think how loot tables are implemented. You're basically saying that to add one box, you had to reduce the contents of another box, which has a completely separate loot table. A reasonable implementation would be for Breda to reward 3 loot items: box 1, box 2, and ticket 1. Upon opening box 1, you generate the contents from the loot table of box 1. When you open box 2, you generate the contents based on the loot table of box 2. Making the table on box 2 depend on the reward from two sentences ago is......... well...... not how any game engine works that I've ever developed for (and that's in the hundreds... starting with Gamebryo 3 for Morrowind).

I guess that's not entirely true... there were some engines I used in the early 90s that would have arbitrary total object limits based on fitting into 4 MB of memory.........

I think they would have to fix the UI for the reward to remove the Grog. From what ZOS is saying the Grog was removed from the loot table to make room for the reward box but Breda's UI still contains the listing for the Grog.

So, in other words, the ZOS developers broke a feature that was working as designed in order to introduce a new container to the New Life festival rewards. Thus, they created a "bug". That is, the rewards which are "showing up in the UI" but not in the player's inventory are the result of poor implementation of the Mysterious Reward Boxes.

You confirm that the error is a "known bug", but it would be amazing if the developers would stop breaking things that work when they implement new features or change existing ones. It would be even more amazing if the developers remedy their error, but, if TESO is still available at this time in 2019, I anticipate that the bug will not be remedied and remain evident.

Dragons belong in Skyrim! They should never be in Elsweyr. And we don't need no stinking Necromancers amongst us. Necromancy is despised, feared, and hated among all the races of Tamriel. It is an evil whose practitioners are continually killed by its true and stalwart Heroes!!

It would have been just a simple fix to remove the "You have been awarded a Grog line as a singular line of text". Or add the Grog in with the Trash, mudballs, swords etc.

Seeing as the Grog is the only thing that doesn't have a runebox. I would have rather get that as trash than juggling swords, mudballs etc. I can use Runeboxes for those (or even emotes).
