Rune Cage, bug or technique?

So on PS4 I noticed rune cage can land rather effectively if I actually cast it on someone already dodging. So prompting a dodge then casting rune cage has been effective for me. Not sure if it is latency, a bug, or working as intended but timing the grace or tell period of rune cage for the end of the dodge roll has greatly increased the effectiveness of rune cage for me.

    Dodge was changed so it would only dodge something if you're dodging a second or less before impact. Rune Cage takes 1.6 seconds or so to actually activate. So if you cast it on a dodging opponent, it'll activate after the dodgeroll. Unless you roll again...

    I was mostly being sarcastic as I don't really see it as a bug but I'm sure there are some salty cloak roller NBs as I've had it counter the dodge into cloak quite a bit and pull them back out.

    As far as them dodging again it is true that if they are mashing dodge they can avoid it. I play BGs almost exclusively so them wasting resources like that is still a partial win for me. But by no means do I see this as a solution to all sorc problems just picked up a general sentiment that rune cage wasn't worth slotting and this seemed to make it more viable for me. Flame reach is probably still better cause of ledges and lava I was just running an experimental build using dual swords.

    Well, it IS useless. You can just as well load a medium-charged heavy attack during your opponent's dodge and fire Reach when they finish. Since Cage adds no damage to your combo, it should ensure your other skills connect, and, well... it doesn't.

    Cage connects even after the opponent stealths (removing stealth) flame reach does not.

    Potentially useful, I agree.
    But a skilled opponent can and likely will dodge Cage a second before impact and then cloak.
