On the new motif price

This is an appeal to every player !

When a motif is sold in the crown store for 5000 crowns, you can buy it whole from a crown gifter for 1.500.000 --> 1.750.000.
So, stop listing single pages for 300.000-->2.000.000, you are just embarassing yourselves and wasting yours and everyone's time -_-'

I always buy individual pages since I don't care about full motifs. Paying 300k for the peice I want is still cheaper than paying 1.5 million for the full motif book.

I also prefer buying from guild traders as there is no risk of scam, so i'm willing to pay a premium to use that system.

Or just buy it from someone you trust like a fellow guild member you know well.

I wait for the prices to come down.

If they don't come down, I buy it with crowns for myself.

Not everyone uses the Crown gifting system. I sure don't. I've not bothered because of the potential for scam, although a couple of my guilds have established a verified crown sellers program, with a list of verified sellers. Still, though, I'd rather just go to the traders and buy the pages I want/need than go through zone or guild chat. Also, I don't have 1.5M just lying around, so I buy pages when they come down to a price I'm willing to pay, and I buy them over time.

It sounds like you might be a crown seller.

Sure, but only day-one achievers will buy page at first days price.
It's not the case for you, apparently, since you just need a few pages. You'd probably waut a week for the price to drop.
Beside, you can buy crowns in your guilds, and zenimax refunds your gold, if you get scammed. It happened to some guildmates of mine.

The price of motifs in the crown store and the cost in game are not related.

Considering some motives are much easier to obtain than others coupled with some players are smart enough to not waste their real money on motifs the prices in game will and should vary.

Granted, 2 million gold for a single chapter would be absurd, but I do not think anyone is embarrassing themselves. Not sure this subject was worth a thread, but to each their own.

To be honnest, I wondered if it was worth a thread as well.
But then I remembered that we had 4-5 threads about the fungal grotto incident, a few "please extend event" threads, a "please auction house" thread coming back every 2-3 weeks, and loads, loads of "I quit" and duplicates "nerf this" posts ...

If those were worth it, I figured the info would at least be usefull to some, and so, I elected to post.

Thanks for pointing out how ZOS is limiting players on prices by launching them both in CS and in game at the same time. That's a shame. Not only that, i believe they are heavily rigging the drops (HM only drops pages to 2 people in group atm) to force people into CS.

As for your problem, everyone should be smart enough to decide where to buy from. As someone else said above, that's not a subject worthy of a thread, you don't like price, you go to crown sellers. Pretty simple.

I look at it I this way, granted I have the luxury of being able to do so.

If the time to either farm the motif or the gold to buy the motif (or I just don't want to bother with the rng factor) is significantly greater than the time it takes for me to farm the extra cash (ie disposable income) in real life, I buy it with crowns.

That’s what i did until they started getting lower ajd lower every single day. They stop forcing me to CS, i start buying again. Until then not a single penny to spare tbh.

Buying a whole of something is always a better price than being stuff individually or from different sellers, motif pages/books are no different.

Well this lunacy in pricing stuff can not only be found in regards to *new* motif prices but also in regards to prices from old motifs and other items as well.

For example just take a look at the prices of golden motif books (whole motifs) and compare them to those of single motif-pages from the same style. You will see that for example (I have seen this 3 days ago ingame) the golden book for the *Hollowjack Style* is sold for 150.000 Gold (150k!!) while each page is around 500g (per page) at the moment. With 14 pages in total buying all pages would cost 7.000 Gold. That is fifty times less as the golden book. The funny thing about that is the reason behind that difference in prices - the golden books are apparently *more* valuable since they are extremly rare drops and *Collector's* would pay nearly anything for them. At least thats what I've been told by some hardcore trade-players .

I - with my humble opinion - think thats not really a reason and that the whole thing about pricing items and knowing what they are worth and what not is only about *personal opinion* and * personal interest*. Nothing more, nothing less. If it wouldn't be like that every single golden motif book shouldn't cost more as all 14 single motif-pages from the same style together !


So... The only thing I can recommend to all of you is, check prices of single-pages, compare them to the price of the whole book and if a new motif goes live, always wait 4-6 weeks since prices will drop !
