Not receiving motifs from Wrothgar's Daily Contract Recompense.

According to the game itself, the only way to obtain some of Orsinium's sets is by completing the daily delve quests that are given on Morkul. I did a few here and there and managed to unlock swords and staves. However, it seems like it's no longer working. I understand that attempting to do the daily on different characters won't work, but lately, I've been only using ONE character and he's not receiving anything. Is there a limit? Am I missing something?

Welcome to ZOS's RNG system. Oh and lets not forget getting the same motif pages over and over again when you do get them.

For ***'s sake... How does this work exactly? Can I try it on different characters or is it bound on one a day?

It's of little recompense that you at least have the option of selling motif pages you already know to other players and use whatever money you get from that on motif pages you are missing.

Ofcourse you also have the option of trading, but unless the page you are looking for is of similar value it would be a net loss overall.

    EDIT:

You can most certainly try on multiple characters a day. It's just all based on RNG whether you get a good yield or a bad one.

Certain things like Gladiator's Proofs from completing conquest dailies in Cyrodiil can only be received once a day, but typically unless noted otherwise you can get the same chance at rewards on multiple characters for daily quests.

I once tried it on six different characters in one day. Only my orc character got a page, no one else did. I thought doing that somehow 'bugged' it out since my orc was no longer getting it after that experiment.

I'll tell you something. I thought I was bugged for a long time when farming perfect roe. I got a large amount at once then suddenly the well dried up and for literally months and hundreds of fish (it's typically a 1/100 chance) I got no roe out of it. Then I started getting more of it and that myth just evaporated.

Moral of the story? RNG likes to mess with your mind and tell you lies. It's like a gaslighter.

As others have said, it’s RNG on each coffer and nothing else. It’s not a guaranteed drop.

It took me about three week’s of dailies on multiple characters to get the full Trinimac motif (with some trading with other players).
"May you walk on warm sands."
"First, I would ask that you look to the poor and the suffering around Cyrodiil. Look into their hearts, and then look into your own."
"May Auri-El's light guide you in your darkest hours."

In short, it's just RNG. Nothing has changed and things are working just as before.

As far as the community has been able to deduce things, there are no extraneous factors involved. Just a very low drop chance for each attempt. (Although there seems to be a cool down timer for some drops - and motifs are a likely candidate for having such a timer.) There is no "first character of the day", or "first attempt in a while " or character of a "specific race or class" or any other such "secret influence" factors involved. Even though such beliefs are fairly common among the player base.

It's just human psychology at work. An example of the lucky shirt phenomena. We, as a species, are prone to see patterns where none exist and reason behind random events. Humans are superstitious on a deep fundamental level.

I am as guilty of it as the next bloke, and have this "gut feeling" that my "chances" increase when I wait long enough between attempts. I'm "sure" I get better drops when I do content I have not been doing for a while. Even though it's just the fact, that when I do get good drops, it registers on a significantly greater level, and I remember those instances much more vividly than the times I got jack squat.

The thing to keep in mind, is that the drop rates in ESO are so atrociously low for just about everything, that any given single players personal experience does not constitute a meaningful enough sample size to draw any kind of conclusions. With the typical drop rates used in ESO, you need a sample set of at least a thousand attempts before you can say anything with any confidence. The only universal constant is that ESO drop rates are usually really really really low.

There are some things, that the community has tracked for long enough, for us to be able to draw pretty conclusive estimates as to what the actual drop chances are. Things like refining mats, or the probability of getting perfect roe. The former has been proven by huge amount of pooled results to be pretty close to 5%, and the latter being pretty close to 1%.

But RNG being RNG does not mean that you are guaranteed to get anything at all. I have on one occasion gone through 1000 mats without getting a single gold temper, and once got 3 gold tempers back to back. So... anything is possible. And in a game with tens of thousands of active players, there is more than enough room for a statistically anomalous player or two.

As for Trinnamac and Malacath motif chapters... I have no idea what the drop rate on those are, but my bet is that it's a single digit percentage. I had no luck with the daily reward coffers and stopped doing them long before I had learned the styles. My main got the chapters by buying them from guild stores and my secondary crafter (who is still missing a couple chapters) learned them from the surplus motif pile I accumulated from jubilee coffers.

Dailies from Fighter's guild has the chance of 6-7% to drop the Draugr motif
Dunno about others - I guess those are slightly higher

    RNG is RNG
    Example
Yesterday I got 2 motif pages from double box drop after completing a single daily in Clockwork.
EU: Beatrice gra-Brog, Rebellie, Yshterie, Jearra , Lirielline
Christess, Fleuretta, Jubilee Cake, Braviliana, Onyxette
M'adjirra, Dances-around-Nirn, Nerieth, Estrice, Ann der Wood
    Éternelle, Burns-all-the-babies, Jyggurag
NA: Dice Twice, Nikka from the barrel

Just do something else, save your money, and buy them in the guild store. A lot less RNG when you just buy them...100% guarantee they will drop from the guild trader (if you have the gold). I used to try to grind that stuff but I got tired of the disappointment.

This is 1000% true: I realized last week that these two motifs are only about half finished and I decided to try getting a few pieces. I did 8 dailies over two days and got no motif pages at all and I genuinely thought to myself “that’s not normal.” Obviously RNG is random but random distributions still have averages. In any other zone with daily quest motif drops there would have been at least one page in those 8 boxes. I’m gonna try to do a bunch of them again today and see if I get any.

You should farm gold and buy them from a Guild Trader.

In 2-3hrs of farming (Or 2/3 days without any farming at all) you will probably have enough gold to buy all the Trinimac/Malacath pages you need.

I don't really know how to farm and I find myself struggling quite a lot when it comes to gold. I only have one Level 50 character and she's not even geared up properly, lol. On a side-note, I've never seen those sets for sale on any guild trader or in the chat. No clue what their prices even are.

Those motifs aren't too costly. They have been in-game for quite a while and the prices have dropped considerably. I remember buying those motifs a year ago for around 10k to 30k.

I suggest you look at Tamriel Trade Centre to look the prices for each page and what merchant is selling them. It's easy to understand how it works and it's very useful when hunting items at a good price.

I'm not an expert at farming, but there are some good guides on the internet to make easy gold in a reasonable amount of time.

Took me a while to get the hang of it, but the prices are around 10,000. That's a few days if I'm lucky... Thanks for the link.

If you are geared enough for vHRC i suggest you do that. Each boss drops an item called "Undaunted Plunder" that is worth 1k. You can get up to 12 in a single run.

That way you can farm gear and gold at the same time. It's also less boring than grinding some random public dungeon or farming nodes

I'm not properly geared for Veterans, no. But I'll keep that in mind.
