If you would like to add non-recurring ESO+ subscription time, to acquire any remaining ESO emotes or badge unlocked via Twitch purchases, or use this Twitch feature for any other personal or professional reason, you have a little less than two weeks to make those additional purchases.
Full text of email notification:
In April 2017, we introduced a new feature that allowed viewers to support streamers by directly purchasing games and in-game items from a streamer’s channel page on Twitch. As someone who purchased a game or in-game item, we are reaching out to let you know that effective November 27, 2018 [11:59 PM Pacific Time] we are discontinuing the sale of games and in-game items via the “Buy Now” buttons shown on a streamer’s channel page.
Why are we making this change?
While our goal was to provide viewers a way to easily purchase games and in-game items directly from Twitch, we found that this feature didn’t provide most streamers with significant additional revenue. We are discontinuing this feature to invest in other ways to help you obtain games and in-game items directly on Twitch while supporting streamers – including through extensions on Twitch like Amazon Blacksmith, which allows viewers to supports streamers through purchases of games and other items.
Does this affect any games, in-game items, or Twitch Crates I purchased, claimed, or was awarded on Twitch?
No one who purchased a game or in-game item will lose access to their content. Any games, in-game items, or Twitch Crates purchased, claimed, or awarded will continue to be available.
Games purchased will still be available to play via the Twitch Desktop app or UPlay, and any game updates made available to Twitch will be provided to you. In-game content purchased on Twitch will still be redeemable by linking Twitch accounts to game accounts. All unopened Twitch Crates will be automatically opened on November 28, 2018, and the items inside those crates will continue being available. For directions on how to download the Twitch Desktop App and redeem in-game items, please visit twitch.tv/store/games.
Does this affect free games with Twitch Prime?
This does not affect the free games and in-game loot that has been made available to Twitch Prime users.
