imbue weapons is a good idea, but very clunky

I loved the idea of it, every class, every weapon, regardless of spec, got a spamable.

awesome

however, the actual imbue only lasting 2 seconds and triggering only on a light is annoying.

the light attack is very clunky, is it will not trigger on heavy attacks or "medium" attacks, so if you click or hold down attack for even a nano sec to long (or if the game thinks you did) it will not fire. this makes the skill REALLY inconsistent as sometimes your imbue simply wont be there and you think you did everything right.

next is the 2 seconds, by the time the animation finishes your already a second into its time, it really needs to be increased to 3-4 seconds to allow for ease of execution as well as the times where you might accidently activate another skill ahead of it (HOW DARE YOU!) I have often gone to do something like imbue , light attack , rapid regen, and the rapid will fire off before the light and the imbue will have ended. insert any skill you might have hit between imbue and the light and you get the point.

the skill is a great idea, and a great addition, I noticed in fact that most of the psijic skill line seems devoted to introducing catch all skills into the game to help fill possible gaps, and that fine, but imbue is by far the clunkiest spamable in the game. the skill makes you feel like your lagging by design, with it constantly not going off because. . .reasons! and your left to figure out what you did wrong (or if it actually was lag, it could be)

so please, make it fire on light and heavies (and everything inbetween) and increase the time up to 3-4 seconds for ease of use and to account for the randomness of live action combat games.

game got too disappointing.

They should just make it an actual spammable, not a spammable buff. Just have the ability be an actual attack instead of some slow, hideously sounding, short duration buff to a light attack.

You're supposed to animation cancel the light attack with the imbue weapon.

I love the concept, the look, the function - everything, really. I mean, before I'm a Jedi fan, I'm a Psijic fan, so having this skill line in the game is like a gift from Baby Jesus.

But the way the animation works is really...fiddly. I almost wish it didn't have the animation, and just put a spell effect on your weapon. I'm using it on my heavy armor melee StamBlade and about half the time, it doesn't feel like it's firing. And I've never had an issue with light attack weaving before.

I REALLY want this to run smoothly, because I love it so much.

I hate the ability. It feels extremely clunky and half the time it doesn't fire off correctly when I attempt to use it. I pretty much gave up on because of the way it works currently. If they go back and tweek it maybe I will try using it again.
"And it's important to state that our decision to go with subscriptions is not a referendum on online game revenue models. F2P, B2P, etc. are valid, proven business models - but subscription is the one that fits ESO the best, given our commitment to freedom of gameplay, quality and long-term content delivery. Plus, players will appreciate not having to worry about being "monetized" in the middle of playing the game, which is definitely a problem that is cropping up more and more in online gaming these days. The fact that the word "monetized" exists points to the heart of the issue for us: We don't want the player to worry about which parts of the game to pay for - with our system, they get it all."

Apologies for a small necro but I think this topic is quite important.
Same as OP, I love the potential of this skill but it's execution is very clunky and just not fun.

I think the biggest problem with Imbue Weapon causing this clunkiness is the fact that it affects the next attack rather than the previous. Even when weaving, the sequence goes LA-imbue-LA-imbue-... making the first LA just a normal hit, which just feels bad. It would be so much better if the skill affected the previous attack!

How? Instead of giving an LA buff to the player, it gives a debuff to the target, and using the Imbue Weapon skill just triggers it, like a detonation. It's a Psijic skill so time manipulation is a thing.

Infuse your weapon with power, causing it to rift through time and making your previous Light Attack used within 2 seconds deal X Physical Damage.

You're supposed to animation cancel the light attack with the imbue weapon.

I highly doubt ZOS created a skill that forces you to animation cancel when they have released no information to new players about this technique.
I'm not saying it doesn't work better when animation cancelled, but I doubt it was "supposed" to work that way.

man I wish this skill would last 3-4 seconds and fire on any light-heavy attack. the animation is cool and the idea is sound, plus my DK would get a decent stam spamable I have wanted for so long

Maybe the skill could auto light attack when you press it? Still take the same time as it does now to do both, but with only the 1 button to avoid light attacking before the effect activates?

I like the skill, it works as intended... Is clunky at first untill you get the rhythm. It's like a pump action shotgun. The worst thing about it is other players not always knowing about it. The number of times I've seen angry comments about light attack spamming regarding my sorc - - lol - - that was however early summerset, awareness is out there now. Best thing, elemental weapon morph out performs asylum staff + force pulse (concentrated force).

The clunkiness comes from the assumption that you suddenly need to reverse weave. Truth is it works the same way as any other skill, light attack > skill. The first light isn't buffed, but the next one is, whatever skill follows... Its a staggered buff.

The reason it doesn't buff previous light attack is because you chain your attacks with light attacks and the light attack fired ahead of next skill adds to the damage of the following block. It wouldn't make sense to buff the preceding block post impact as that would break the chain.
