First time trying Crown Crates. What are my chances?

Hey everyone.

I bought the game a few years ago but didn't really spend that much time in-game. I just found out that I my account still has a bunch of Crowns from older purchases and was thinking about trying to buy crates worth 1,500 Crowns now that I'm getting back into the game. However, I'm rather concerned about this and would like to you know your thoughts on it.

There are items within the crates that I would like to obtain, including those that can be claimed with Gems... but I have no idea how bad the RNG can get. I've always tried to avoid Loot Boxes in general and would only use them in other MMOs if Premium Currency was earned via in-game like Star Wars: The Old Republic, TERA and Guild Wars 2. How are my chances? Should I just focus on something that can be obtained directly from the Store instead?

Please dont because unless you get something good, you will realise that you wasted money. it is tempting i know but save your crowns for something that you actually know you want and will get. its a luck thing. If you do get some then fine, but dont get sucked in.

Yes.

You could buy those 4 crates but since you avoided them for so long and didnt liked them in other games i would advice not to buy the crates but instead buy something in the store you like.

These chances look really low... I suppose I'll have to forget about the Zombie personality and the Treasure Hunter costume. I've never wanted something from the Store as bad as these, but I don't think it's worth the risk.

Thanks for that, I always like to see player experiences with odds. Bearing in mind of course that this is a digital item and the odds can be changed without notification by the developers at any time, and aren't legally obliged to be disclosed.

@Maulclaw I'd strongly recommend against buying loot boxes because by the time you get the item(s) you wanted, you'd likely have spent more than it cost to purchase outright. Hell, I'll give an example in World of Warcraft - I've ran the dungeon Zul'Gurub over 700 times to get the Swift Zulian Panther, once per character every day (on approx. 15 characters), and I have not once seen it drop, because it has about a .03% chance of dropping. Now imagine paying a fee per character for that kind of luck, and that's what your loot crate looks like.

Zombie personality costs 100 gems, so if someone is patient and opens only free crown crates, can afford it without spending a single crown.
I got many cool items only by opening free crates in last years and never bought a single crate for crowns.

The so called "free crowns" from eso+, I spent on the mounts plus unlocks for dlcs plus some special costumes.

The chances are you will get poisons, meals, tattoos, or a shower cap with flowers.

Less likely is a statue for a house you don't have, a costume that you do have already, or a really nice mount that you wouldn't have picked out yourself.

Get DLC with the Crowns.

I recommend saving up gems from free crates and picking specific prizes you want from the crates.

- 60 Reaper Harvest crates. Got 1 apex mount, no radiant.
- 45 Hollowjack crates. 0 apex or radiant mounts.
- 64 Scalecaller crates. 0 apex or radiant mounts.
- 64 Wild Hunt crates. 2 apex mounts.
- 64 Flame Atronach. 1 apex mount.
- 64 Dwarven. 1 apex mount.
- 64 Psijic. 1 apex mount.

That's 425 crates. I've never gotten a radiant apex mount, and only 6 apex mounts(1 camel, 3 guars, 2 wolves).

Was exactly 142500 crowns.

I’d rather wait for the free ones from the daily rewards than the store ones, then slowly save up gems so you can get what you want later.

Example: I saved up at least 36 gems so I can get a soul-shriven outfit for when the storm atro crates come back.

Not really: apex mounts come up in about 1 out of 50 crates, he got 6 out of 425 crates, so about 1 out of 71. They are just that rare.

To be fair he should also have got a ton of crown gems out of the crates' consumables

Only buy crown crates if you enjoy the process of opening them and seeing what you get or if you'd be happy with literally anything in the list.

If you want a few specific items, even if they're not apex mounts, you're highly likely to end up disappointed. The best that's likely to happen is that you get enough duplicates of things you don't want that eventually you can buy the thing you do want with crown gems.

That's why I don't buy crates and just open the free ones: I have quite a few body markings and mementos I couldn't care less for (not to mention ugly pets) that I'd gladly give back for gems if I could, but as it is they just clutter my collection.

Don't do it. Seriously, don't. Daily rewards often give away crates and better to save those crowns for something that you can buy directly, something you really like.

waht about costumes and pets and non apex mounts? crown crates are not awesome, but if you are going to calculate the price - you do need to get ALL the things you get into account.

if your only desire is to get apex and ONLY via rng, not even spending gems on direct purchases... you really should stop buying crates becasue your chance of disappointment is 100%

crates are worth buying, ONLY if you want multiple things out of them, hopefully most things in any given shipment. spending 5k to get 2 costumes and a mount that originally sold directly for slightly more then that and I happened to miss becasue I was not actively playing at the time? as certainly worth it to me. no apex mount either, let alone radiant, but.. costumes and non apex mount was worth it regardless.

Think of it like this.

"If many people keeps investing on the same product, the company will be happy thus they will produce more products like these." In this case, the company will put more and more exclusive stuffs inside crown crates in the future as long as the market came out fine and people are biting it. If you are happy with that investment then support it.

At the moment, we have already tasted the first exclusive premium item that can only be purchased through crown gems at a higher price and at no doubt that I'll be seeing more of these in the future.

I know its all random but the only time I've gotten a radiant apex was from a freebie crate.

Was totally O_o when it happened, still kept the radiant though.
