Hello I have a question to dangerous to experiment on by myself.

Q: If I loot a Material Node, but don't take everything it offers (For example, I take the Deni Rune, but Leave the Ta Rune, or leave the Insect Parts but take the Butterfly Wing) will that resource node stick around and possibly be half-empty when another player comes by to loot it? Does this apply to chests?

I always "Take All" just in case but my inventory is limited and I'm wondering if I can get away with taking less without hurting anyone. Please help me help us.

My understanding is that it will remain there partially looted for a time, then respawn. I'm not sure how long they remain.

It's best to loot the entire node.

I believe that it does apply to chests as well.

I always take all. Not fun to get to a node and all you get is insect parts or find a chest that only has lock picks.

When you fully loot you see the node/chest disappear. When you don't fully loot that node/chest hangs around.

Generally people have found that partially looted nodes and chests stick around for about 10 minutes, then despawn.

10 minutes is a long time to assume that no one will come by and get stuck with the trash you left behind. Some people are okay with trash. Other people get really annoyed by it.

So if you want to be courteous to others, #TakeAll

If your so torn about looting nodes then don't loot them at all. Get ESO+ and feel better about yourself. However, most of us know this is a troll post.

With 148 comments on this forum you should by now have some insight that this have been discussed in several threads before.

    A) Every node that somebody interact with will have a timer that counts down, so that node will reset after some time even when you leave things in it.

    B) It is seen as bad manner in this community to leave stuff that is "garbage" - take all and use a an add on (if on PC) to either sell to NPC vendors next time you interact with those (add on will put it into "trash" section in your inventory) or you can manually delete those items. You can delete most items by drag and drop those items outside of inventory. Just be clear that you can't get back an item that you delete (destroy) by drag and drop. When you sell to a vendor you can use buy back option (a tab in right corner), so it is more safe if you find out you sold something that would want to keep.

    C) For almost all kind of chests you will actually use up keys, so that could be annoying for new players which might not have yet that many keys.

For PC: There are add ons which you can set up rules for how to handle different items and to move into junk section in your inventory. Just be aware that some quest items are also ID as "trash" some time. Use Minion and use its filter to search for bag and inventory add ons (pull down in Minion) .

Get a house storage, you can get small house for each character for free, and you can by those storage with Crowns, from doing master writs, doing PvP (or only PvE as you get TS as reward although only a small amount) in IC and get Telvar Stones. The large Storage Chest can hold 60 items and the smalller one 30.

I've picked up numerous "left overs" from nodes and chests, so yes, it's possible that the things you left behind will be there for the next person.

Suggestion: If you can't empty the nodes, it's time to visit the bank or a merchant.

This. If you don’t have the bag space, make room. Find a vendor, decon etc.

If you take the Deni rune and leave the Ta rune, you will produce one very unhappy fellow gamer.
If you take the butterfly wing but leave the insect parts, nobody will ever notice, since not all insects carry the superiour alchemy parts.

To increase the fun level: Leave some iron ore in the node and watch a fellow gamer harvest iron ore from a rubedite node. The reason is, if you have seen the levelled material inside, it will be the same for every player, no matter what the node level will be for him or her. Levelled material nodes basically behave like treasure chests.

While you should, you don't have to take everything. The node will go away in a few minutes.

While people stress in here about this, don't get stressed if you have to leave something because you were full. Just leave it, and go immediately to deal with your inventory. You don't have to stand there picking stuff to toss so that you can empty the node.

This is a lie. This is not how it works at all. It's been confirmed by the devs multiple times that the respawn timer starts as soon as a node or chest is opened not as soon as it is emptied.

The node/chest won't disappear right away if you leave things in it, but a new full node/chest will appear at exactly the same time whether the previous one was emptied and disappeared or whether something was left in it.

The difference between looting it all and not looting it all is that when you loot it all the next person who comes by before the timer is up will get nothing. When you don't loot it all the next person who comes by before the timer is up will get whatever you didn't loot instead of getting nothing.

I dont have the crafting bag either.

What I do have is 200 bag spaces, friends to bounce mail to, and a commitment to not cherrypicking nodes and chests because I think that's rude to do to other players. So I stop by the merchants regularly, sell stuff I don't need, bank stuff I do, and bounce mail to friends if I need to.

    Try again.

As soon as you interact, an invisible respawn timer starts. I don't think you have to loot anything for it to cause the nose to eventually respawn. I've had a few nodes just disappear on me because of that, lol.

Yeah, but don't do this if you use certain loot and trade management addons. In my case, it would cost me a fortune to do so, since all stuff I would sell to NPCs are marked as junk, like refined mats of certain levels, Ta, Jejota, Denata, most stolen items, plunder and all gear with ornate trait.

I found a rubedite ore node give me 3 pewter dust!

Well, ZOS recently changed the blacksmithing nodes to have a chance to drop leveled jewelry dust as an attempt to prevent people from farming just the jewelry seams. The dust is like usual split between your level and your jewelry passives level.

Now, if you have a CP 160 character with maxed jewelrycrafting, the only way you would get pewter is if someone with a lower level/passive level activated that node and left it for you to find. That's happened to me on occasion.

I've played at 2PM here, that means very few other players online anywhere.
Been farming in really remote locations and found partially looted runetowers.

My conclusion is that they don't respawn at all, until fully looted.
More than happy to see any evidence to debunk that.
