For everyone struggling with the mammoth steaks there is a solution!

I don't know about the right quest marker, but on the left, if you kill the mammoths at the top portion of the quest marker, you should be able to get steaks each time. This has worked 100% for me so far.

I got no steaks from mammoths at the left marker (had to grab the ones that rarely spawn), but got steaks every time from mammoths at the right market on the next daily.

Maybe the quest is just randomly bugged so you get none from mammoths, regardless of which marker.

Same here, always got drops from the area near riften. Long trip for the salt from there lol

Could we not find some sort of cheaper more plentiful meat yes - perhaps horse or wolf or welwa?

Would not horker taste like mammoth after all that salting anyway yes?

After all pie, lasagne, burger, kebab - who knows or cares about what is contained within?
