Not a Bomber! A magika Templar build for the current meta

5 Julianos
It's always up, it gives us a nice amount of spell damage and the crit buffs get us to 39% spell crit

5 Spinners
The best pure damage set available, because we're running this we adjust our CP to offset the damage loss to damage shields. Next patch it gets buffed by becoming relevant against damage shields as well

2 Balorgh
It's just too good in the current meta, kite, build ult, bomb then repeat.

Skills
We're using Forward Momentum+Speed/stam/immov pots and 2x swift jewels as a means to mobility. You'll be kiting a lot and trying to get people into chokes where you can get your burst off. The combo is pretty simple, just Det+Meteor while Lightning Blockade ticks and Sweeps goes off. You can use Dawnbreaker of Smiting in place of meteor if you prefer, I don't think one is better than the other for all situations but DB is certainly better for 1v1 fights. This build, like my Stamina Warden, is designed to burst and kite not to fight 1v1 duels against top players. The sustain is up to your discretion, you can get away with less if you're using Meditate effectively.
Come on, flip the pickle, Morty, you're not gonna regret it. The payoff is huge. I turned myself into a pickle, Morty! Boom! Big reveal! I'm a pickle! What do you think about that? I turned myself into a pickle! W-w-what are you just staring at me for, bro, I turned myself into a pickle, Morty.

i'm not a good pvper myself but i know eonugh that ur blockade won't have effect, the average player will avoid aoes. Also, you can't not use purifying light, that's ur burst and very good in groups. Meteor is telegraphed and since you don't have an unblockable CC, its damage will be blocked. And the detonation also has its telegraph around the user, easy to avoid.

two passives sets are for PVE, if you want to "kite around" and "wait for the moment" you have to wear something with higher potential during a limited time like Burning Spellweave.

I mean, you’re totally wrong because I’ve been running this build on live since summerset, first 1 Kena 1 Domi and now with Balorgh.

First, you force blockade to hit by kiting someone into a position where they have difficulty getting out of blockade, since your main spammable is a cone AoE you want to try to do this anyway.

Second, meteor works great when you drop it on a group of 3+ that’s chasing you because one of two things happen, they either all block it and stand in your blockade, det, sweeps giving you a chance to get kills or someone doesn’t block it and gets deleted.

Third, Spinners is more damage than BSW and I’m using Balorgh to allows me to hit 4800 spell damage which means if you sit in sweeps+blockade you die, period. Especially since we’ve got a 26% damage bonus available on sweeps because we get 8% lightning Destro 10% exploiter and 8% off balance.

Finally, Purifying Light is terrible for the type of fights I engage in, I’m not trying to burst a single target, I’m delivering a big burst to multiple players and then I’m kiting again, I neither have bar space or a use for PL, which is completely single target and would need to be timed with Det and Meteor.

Now, you may not be a good PVP player but I’ve been playing since PC launch and PvP literally every day and I’ve tested this build over the course of several months, I can guarantee you it’s viciously effective, it was strong enough to get kills with 1 Domi 1 Kena in place of Balorgh and now with Balorgh it nukes people. Perhaps you should practice getting better at PVP and learning how to use your abilities and movement to control fights more effectively and be able to maximize your toolkit rather than trying to pretend like a build that I’ve earned millions of AP on solo doesn’t work.

Thanks for your input, but unfortunately you couldn’t be more wrong. If you have any questions feel free to let me know!

What you said is possible againts noobs but everything can be possible agaitns noobs. This build is zerg killler build so there is no problem. You might use toppling charge to close gap before blowing zergs wirh last second detonation.

I find that Magplar is one of the specs that requires drastically different things to beat really good players and to win outnumbered fights, particularly solo. Since I find myself most often alone against 4-361538 scrubs I tend to build for those types of situations.

To say it only kills noobs is absolutely false, the damage on this spec is very, very good and if you’re caught out of position then there’s a very real chance you get melted, particularly if there’s a couple of people in range of Det.
