How we have so many sets within the game. And yet some highly used take a huge nerf, or ones that are rarely not used are just left in the dust. I was reading up on different post regarding sets, and it seems like zos has a small list of sets they really care about. I honestly feel as if "we" the community rarely ever gets heard. One set in particularly I came across a few threads was about "flame blossom" and how disappointed people were with it, i enjoy using that set on my Magdk, but i do see where people would be disappointed with it. However I believe some people just don't know how to use some sets handicaps to their advantage to make it work for them.

What are some sets you think needs a minor or major update, and without having to break the "balance" of pve & pvp?

I've been saying for a while how the rate at which new sets are added can't be sustained.

They need to slow down the rate of new sets and work more on making the older "not viable" ones more interesting. There will always be a BiS meta but we should still have more choice than just the generic damage/crit ones for most builds.

    I was kidding mate :)

Anyway, Cyrodiil Ward should return to it's former glory with a bonus of 15% increase to mounted speed.

In regard to PVP: There are too many strong sets which inflict oblivion damage.
Those sets should be adjusted to be less powerful.
Also, Stamina sets are stronger in PVP in general.
I want to see more sets which allow high magicka sustain+higher magicka/spell damage+good 5th piece bonus.
Most of the magicka sets fall behind the stamina sets stats, for both PVP/PVE purposes.

I’d be extremely cautious making changes to existing sets. Just because power gamers don’t like them doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t use them.

One thing I would adjust are poor proc mechanics on a few sets. I had a character idea centered around morkuldin, for example, but as I was trying out the set the proc rate is absolutely terrible. As a general rule, the more soecific the proc condition is, the higher the base percent to proc should be. That set needs more like a 30% proc rate to be remotely worth it.

Lol I know, but in all honesty, am I the only one who feels we have so many sets and alot which are basically useless, and the soul ones that are used alot are the ones that either receive a buff or nerf, I would love for zos to go back and take a set that was never used and change it in a way, that people would utilize.

I get what you're saying, but the whole idea in a pvp stand point, to have a ton of copy and paste builds run around in pvp is absurd to me, we have way to many sets that could be reworked so everyone isn't running the same thing. I try my best to use sets that I like even if unfortunately it doesn't meet the meta criteria.

    Indeed.
ZOS should improve some old sets to make them viable.
    Example:
    Current:
    Kagrenac's Hope(craftable, 8 traits):
5 items: Adds 2-222 Spell Damage
5 items: Decreases the time it takes to resurrect an ally by 25%. When you successfully resurrect an ally, you restore 20-1720 Magicka.

No one cares about the time to resurrect an ally since it's like 0.001% of play time when wearing this set.
ZOS should change Kagrenac's Hope 5 pieces set bonus to the following:
    New:
    Kagrenac's Hope(craftable, 8 traits):
5 items: You are imbued with the hope of Kagrenac. When You deal damage, you have 10% chance to increase your magicka recovery by 350 for 10 seconds.
5 items: You are imbued with the hope of Kagrenac. When You deal damage, you have 10% chance to increase your spell power by 400 for 10 seconds.

Many old sets should be improved.
Though some old sets should be adjusted to be less powerful.
    An example:
Shield Breaker(obtainable for Tel Var stones):
    Current:
(5 items) When you deal damage with a Light or Heavy Attack against a Player with a damage shield, you deal an additional 2150 Oblivion Damage to them.

    New:
(5 items) When you deal damage with a Light or Heavy Attack against a Player with a damage shield, you deal an additional 2150 Oblivion Damage to them. 3 seconds cooldown.

And if it was only differences in flavor, I would not mind at all...

More annoying is how some sets (aka, the newest thing) seem to always have an edge over the older ones, to make all the murderdeathkillers chase after the new stuff (and buy the DLC/Expansion where you get the new stuff)
But eh. I guess all we can do is live with it and wait until these sets get nerfed to mediocracy when they release the next new thing, huh? And hope that in fullness of time, all of them get balances to the roughly same power level...

    • Parse Food for PvE:(DPS) Ghastly Eye Bowl (increases Max Magicka by 4592 and Magicka Recovery by 459 for 2 hours).
    • Gold/Purple Food for Sorc PvP and Meme Tanking:(PvP) Clockwork Citrus Filet (increases Max Health by 3326, Health Recovery by 406 [useful if stage 1 vampire], Max Magicka by 3080, and Magicka Recovery by 338 for 2 hours). Witchmother's Potent Brew (Increase Max Magicka by 2856, Max Health by 3094, and Magicka Recovery by 315 for 2 hours.
    • Trash Potions when feeling cheap: Regular CP150 Essence of Magicka pots that I obtain frequently from playing the game or Crown Tri-Restoration Potion obtained from dailies.
    • Crafted Potions: Essence of Spell Critical (Bugloss, Lady's Smock, and Water Hyacinth). Without magelight this is my primary means of obtaining Major Prophecy on my Sorc, which increases my Spell Critical Rating. This also heals and restores magicka. Essence of Immovability (Columbine, Corn Flower, and Wormwood). I use this in PvP, since this gives me stealth detection, knockback immunity, and restores magicka (better to use it when competent allies are nearby, since it might reveal that you are surrounded by multiple players in stealth and you will not have an emergency pot available after use). Essence of Invisibility with only 2 ingredients (Blue Entoloma, Namira's Rot, Nirnroot, or Spider Egg). I use this in PvE content that requires stealth and if I need more speed I'll use Rapid Maneuver before using the potion. Essence of Invisibility with 3 ingredients (Blessed Thistle, Blue Entoloma, and Namira's Rot). Very useful in PvP alongside the vampire Dark Stalker passive, since you'll be invisible, ignore movement speed penalty while in Crouch, and you'll have a 30% movement speed boost from Major Expedition (I always have this slotted when riding from point A to B in PvP land, since gankers are always lurking). My templar/arcanist will mostly use Essence of Health (Tri-Stat Potion) Ingredients: (Mountain Flower, Columbine, and Bugloss).

I think a cooldown of 3 or rather 2 seconds would be fine if the additional damage were triggered by any attack, not just light and heavy weapon attack.

Just nerfing it for the sake of a nerf is pointless.

There will always be a select number of sets that are better than others.

Due to the high number of sets, it actually makes perfect sense that a good percentage are not that useable compared to others.

If every set were good the game would be a lot worse.

And Mad Tinkerers is under appreciated as well.

The rest yes needs overhauls imo.

I think it’s unavoidable that for PvE, there’s going to be a limited number of sets you can realistically run to best contribute in your role. The nice part is that you can still be creative with builds to have fun in overland questing or PvP, where it’s less about meta and more about playstyle.

Someone mentioned how some of the best or most OP sets/monster sets seem to come with new content, I think this is intentional. It encourages folks to buy or participate in the new content and allows folks to have a bit of fun being a little OP for a while before ZOS nerfs it... usually just in time for the next new content to sell...

You look at Duneripper and think "huh, it could be a nice tanking set", but then you remember that Fortified Brass exists, which gives more resistances, doesn't require you to do anything to get them, and is craftable, and you realize that Duneripper may as well not exist at all, because Fortified Brass is just a better version of it.

Really great example you've highlighted. There are others like this.

But I've always enjoyed the variety of sets we have, even if some are not worth slotting
