Why does area voice chat turn on after every battle ground match?

I turn off area voice chat immediately after creating a new character. It stayed off for years on my main. I recently started BGs and after every one I have to turn off that damn area voice chat. If I wanted to hear someone who can't sing, I'd record myself in the shower.

yeah battlegrounds is not the only time t his happens, I think it is anytime you are in a group voice chat and leave the group and get instanced out that you can be put right into area chat... can be the same thing when switching to alts as well.

It doesn't, at least for me. Only when I do BGs.

It seems like there was a reset about a week ago and all my characters had General turned back on. There are other random times, but I haven't been able to pin down which character and what triggered it. It wasn't Battlegrounds for me, though, I don't have any characters participating.

I admit I have not grouped for a dungeon/trial in a while, so I don't know if that turns it back on as well. The only time I have noticed it is after BGs.

Ha! True... and I used to think Barrens chat was weird / scary / strange / intriguing. Now with ESO, we know what would have happened if you added microphones... and let people easily play while sitting on the couch.

Most likely a thing with group finder. I automatically get kicked out of guild chat and into group chat even with invitation-formed groups. Then it's a crapshoot whether I'll lose my guild chat channel trying to go back. I don't know the last time I queued for a group though, so I can't personally say whether leaving a queued group would open up area chat.
