How important is having summerset for PVP?

Out of five PvP characters, only one runs a build that required Summerset. However, in my opinion, jewelry crafting is too useful to pass up.

Honestly I don't think its that big a deal. Most magika folks I know are still on arcane (but yes having the trait reached to transunte stuff to it is nice. Psjics skills do slot in well, but I wouldn't say they are even that prevelant to me

Jewelry crafting is nice, Asus,ing you want to trait jewelry instead of having it crafted for you. If you PVP in a small group, you'll probably feel the lack of Psijic skills. If you prefer to zerg-surf, I wouldnt worry - 20 other people will already be spamming time stop.

And people said Summerset was a PVE update, boy were they wrong!

I finally broke down and bought summerset, but I don’t really use the Psijic skills.

Jewelry crafting is great but not required

It depends on what build/class your characters are. I noticed that alcasts pvp nightblades all use psijic skills.

Summerset was a pve focused chapter. But Zos put jewelry crafting and psijic skill tree behind a paywall to get pvpers to buy the chapter anyway.

Other than Transmuting my Ravaging Jewelry, it really hasn't impacted my PvP gameplay as much as I thought it would. Weapon Damage is higher, sure but it didn't make or break me in any way.

My PvE builds have improved more than my PvP builds have that the difference is Night and Day.

I'm sure you've already mentioned it but:
cp level
race
class
weapon bars
stam or mag
mundus
gear sets
glyphs/traits
food/drink
potions
last, but not least - rotations

whatcha got going on - I can understand having some difficulty killing players, that and sustaining can be really challenging...

less of an excuse though for not being able to stay alive...much easier build, game mechanics and rotations...

Edit: for myself - when I finally figured out there was a whole lot more going on than simply gearing up and pressing buttons, sustain and survivability were the first things I focused on...

Having the small shield and also minor protection from the psijic ult on your defensive bar is pretty good. Not game changing but it’s a definite plus. I run brass and bone pirates 6 medium on my Stam DK and run dw and 2h so don’t have a real defensive bar, but having that minor protection and shield makes a noticeable difference.

Depends on your class/build/playstyle; namely whether or not it can take advantage of new jewelry traits -- not mandatory.

Id say it depends on a build. Some builds require you to change jewelry traits to be proficient and afaik you need summerset to be able to do this.
