MYM event - Why I love and hate BG's more than Cyrodiil

First off, I am not a pvp'er. I rarely step into battlegrounds and its been at least a year or so since I have done so. Cyrodiil, I will visit more often just to level the skills.

However, with Cyrodiil pretty much unplayable, I have turned to BG's for my AP harvesting needs. I earned more AP in BG's in the same amount of time I was in Cyrodiil. 500k vs 250k AP over a couple of hours.
Some things I learned yesterday...

1. It is much more rewarding to run a battleground and lose, than to play my horse riding simulator and die horribly to SIEGE.
2. Battlegrounds suck because of the amount of SLOADS. (seriously, no one is running anything else, except maybe me?!)

Not being a pvp'er at heart, I know some will not like this comment, but...

If they just nerfed the amount of damage siege does to players (not structures) Cyro would be improved. Yes, yes... I am aware of the amount of fix/nerf sloads threads there are (soon), but I think fixing/nerfing siege might help too? Mind you, I have taken a lot of breaks from the game, if siege has been reworked recently, I missed it. A true pvp'er can probably speak to this better than myself, but it's a thought.

My recommendation for the rest of the event is to run some battlegrounds, accept that you are going to get sloaded in the kneecap, take the AP and don't look back at Cyrodiil.

From what I have heard siege equipment will not be able to set off any proc sets in the future. I don't know how poisons work with them though (or if they ever interacted with them).

Don't stand in the red circles, problem solved?

Not trying to be a jerk or anything but I usually don't die to siege.

Siege should hit hard, it's a giant flaming arrow or a bunch hot oil hitting you, ouch.

Sloads is a common thing in BGs and it does kind of suck until you get grouped with a purge machine or run a way of dealing with it on your own.

Getting matched up against 4man premades is also a bummer

I don't get long queues for BGs luckily.

I don't really do either for the AP so which is faster has never really factored in for me.

Unfortunately, ZOS thinks siege needs to get stronger, not weaker.

My best advice is to treat it like "Don't stand in stupid" PVE damage, and use proactive heals to mitigate the damage if you do get hit.

@Hurtfan Yes, I understand how siege and red circles work. I don't marinate in it.

The problem is, that it seems even if you are not standing in the red you still get hit by it, and the dot is the worst part of it.
It feels like it has a 2-4 meter range past the red that it can still tag you. Unless you are shield stacking or are a healer that dot is still gonna hurt. Mostly it's only once you are in a keep, obviously its easier to not die from it outside where you have more movement.

Either that or it's the LAG.
It's probably the lag, haha I think I am not standing in a circle but I really am?? :o

I hear ya there. Especially scattershot, there's red circles everywhere and it seems even if you're not standing in the red circles (you're just outside of them), you still get hit.

The only reason why I made the comment that I don't usually die to siege is, I suck at PvP, if I can avoid it so can you.

OK, I'll be sure to move out of the red circles when the entire Inner Keep roof is covered in multiple layers of stacking meatbag debuffs and scattershot residue because the area is so tiny and compact. Let's all just stand on the stairwells twiddling our thumbs because that's exciting PvP.

And why is it that somehow a bunch of hot oil hitting me should destroy me but not a Nova, which is a fragment of the sun?

Make Rush of Agony "Monsters only." People should not be consecutively crowd controlled in a PvP setting. Period.

If you don't want to die or have a siege shield cast (which I don't think are very effective with multiple sieges hitting it), then yes, get to the flags downstairs and get ready to defend. You pretty much described the worst case scenario. Maybe they should buff siege shield? I used to slot it but it sucks.

Night blades can shine in this case, gank those bastids on siege.

It's funny that every time someone mentions dying to something, calling for a fix or nerf, "standing in stupid" is brought up. We all know how broken parts of the game are... yet it's always said. L2P. It's become the token answer.

My point is, BG's seem less of a pita that Cyro, even with sloads. I guess what I am hearing is that people like siege the way it is... OK then.

They are buffing siege shield according to the latest PTS notes - it will now protect 50% rather than 30%.

But topic - I tried BGs for the first time last night to get my last few kills and I both loved and hated it. The objective games were fun - but in Deathmatch it was obvious we got matched with a couple premades - and it was a perma stealth CC crap fest.

I don't agree. Wise use of siege is only help against huge groups (say: 50+) wiping out 8-10 players trying to defend last Alamo and not get Earlymorning Zergemperor at campaign.
If someone is "glued" to trebuchet and waiting 6 sec to reload or runs blindly into just opened inner keep (seeing numerous defenders at walls with oils, balistas and so on)... well, some more ap for me (as defender); they will get this keep in few minutes, but satisfaction is: not for free ;)
