What will Stamblades use as a CC post patch?

Now that Incap is losing its stun for most practical purposes, what will Stamblades use to CC people from now on? Hysteria seems like a good option but it’s a very magicka-expensive ability which will make your cloak uptime less. Stealth Suprise attack stun is another option, but it seems pretty buggy to me, feels like the Stun does doesn’t always work. Maybe Drop Incap completely and start using DBoS like every other Stam class? I don’t know, this is the nerf people have been asking for but now that it’s actually come I’m not sure how to cope.

I use hysteria in every stamblabe buid for last 3 years. When you make cloack focused build, just eat gold orzoga, that's all.

I can use cloak and fears without having magic issues at all. Just need to learn how to sustain your magic on a stamblade.

or just run balance from the mages guild lol, while in cloak hit balance and your health becomes less than targets and bam gank. Hes stunned. Same as before lol

I don't have room on my bar for another skill just to get a stun back that i previously had.

As to OP, mass hysteria is pretty good. I don't use any magicka sustain stuff on my stamblade but I manage. Mostly. I pretty much always use DB of smiting if there is more than one enemy anyways. I don't really play a typical gank-blade and try to use it as a brawler-type build.

1. Sneak attack stun.
2. Cloak->Surprise Attack - works as long as target doesn't block/dodge.
3. Mass Hysteria - works, but as others mentioned expensive & comes at the cost of dealing no damage when CC'ing the target (means less maximum burst than with other options).
4. Manifestation of Terror - a very underrated skill, let's you queue up abilities to land at the same as the CC if used properly.
5. Tactician CP->Medium weave - in CP environments only
6. ...Incap still CCs in risky situations and can be used to turn a fight around.

Keep in mind, most of you night blades are able to run lower health builds due to your ability to use cloak. Other classes have to build slightly more tanky with higher health.

Incap is still most likely going to stun on initial engage. The second Incap which is only 75 ultimate away, may not stun.

There is a simple way to do this without adding extra skills to your bar. But it will go without mentioning because no one wants another nerf train running over all of us. If you haven’t figured it out by the time it goes live let me know

Incap will still reliable stun your openings - you just need to properly slot your skills to take advantage of Dark Vigor passive.

Why was any stamblade only using incap as a CC anyway??

You should pretty much always fear (or cloak and suprise attack) into incap anyway to reduce the chance of them dodging.

If you run sub 1000 magica recovery on a stamblade you are gimping yourself massively. I run 1400+ unbuffed on mine (1500+ on back bar with barrier slotted) so I can cloak, fear and use shade (sometimes) comfortably.

If you’re referring to tactician, that is already being nerfed.

Use cc from off balance then incap thats how you get the most damage anyways as your heavy attack hits way harder this way and then 2h passive empowers your incap;)

If you’re referring to tactician, that is already being nerfed.

He's probably referring to stacking health on your incap bar, so that when you bar swap from your non Incap Bar to your incap bar, you'll be missing some health.

All you'd need to do is put surprise attack, cloak, and fear on the same bar as Incap, and put no shadow skills on your other bar; and you'd have 9% more max health on that bar than the other.

Most builds don't use Incap as an opener, but more like a mid-combat CC+burst with Relentless.

The only build that comes to my mind which doesn't land any attack (even light/heavy attack) before the Incap would be destro staff magicka gankblade, which tries to Incap & have the destro heavy land afterwards with +20% dmg taken.

Other builds will put target below their health % with light/heavy weave before the Incap part.

Because it's the easiest way to burst people down? If you look at various NB 1vX videos on youtube or watch streamers play the class, something like 90% of kills come from the same Incap->Relentless combo on people.

Sure, you can kill people with fear too but they've gotta be out of stamina or particularly bad as they have over two seconds to CC break & dodge roll the Relentless Focus. Even Incap after Fear can be dodged/blocked, though it requires good latency & reaction time.

So in that sense, using fear is basically just draining stamina from competent opponents and nothing else.


Fact is, Incap CC lowered the skill floor of the class and made it waaay too easy to get kills with stamblade while making other class CCs like Fear & Surprise Attack stun largely redundant.
