Dropped from server twice for "reaching message limit"

Well, I haven't sent a message in the last two weeks.... so what gives? And of course, it takes half an hour or more to get logged back in....

Error 318 can be triggered if there is a significant response delay between performing a high number of actions and the server processing them. The 'spam' while unintentional is just the server being hit with a lot of requests at once.

That's happened to me twice in the past week, even though I haven't been posting on Chat. Yeah, it's a weird error.

This is most likely due to addon and lag. you might want to disable some addons if this happen frequently to see which addon is responsible

Yea, often caused by an addon being triggered.

Wardrobe addons usually trigger this error for me if I change setup too quickly.

Yeah, I get the warning message often just when switching gear around.

It was pretty strange. The first time, I logged off one girl, and tried to log into the one that had a survey map I wanted to do on the other one.

The second time was even stranger: after I finally got the map to the right girl, she was trying to open the gate to go into Rivenspire.

Truly weird.

I got it a week or so ago on XBox one so not just addons. Lag was bad at the time so I guess that was why. I don't even have my chat window open and never send messages either.

happens every time i pull all my items from 5 guild stores and then go to relist them.

i get booted from server and have to wait 15 minutes to be able to log back in. its total garbage.

i believe when u get the booted from server error u need to wait 15 more minutes before going to log back in. if u try to log in any sooner, it just resets the timer and u gotta wait all over again

thats my experience with it anyways

I don't know if it's add-ons, but I only have two add-ons: Map Pins and Dolgubon's Lazy Writ Creator. So ... maybe one of those? Although Sassparella said It was happening to them on Xbox One (no add-ons).

This always used to be linked with lag, nothing to do with messages...…

You hit "E" multiple times because nothing is happening(due to lag), when the server finally catches up it considers those multiple hits to be spam and kicks you!

Tbh I thought this bug had gone away but hey *** surprise, surprise it hasn't!

Well, I will simply micromanage stuff from now on. *sigh* Nothing was this complex in WoW and RIFT (both of which I played for years, though I haven't played either of them in a long time now) - it's probably a function of this game having only one server for each platform (which apparently isn't even in the US *rolls eyes*).

Just got booted from PS for the same thing. Not one message sent! Also, keep getting kicked for No Connection to the Network, but my Network/Internet is fine.

This has nothing to do with chat messages or email messages or anything like that. It is related to data messages going between your client and the server. So if you are having lag and start bashing keys in frustration, all those key strokes may go off at once once the lag gets better. And the server says, "Hey, I just got 47 keystrokes in 1 second. No one is that fast. Somebody is using a hack or macro. I am going to kick them." Some addons that perform automated actions like changing gear or skill bar setup can also do this if they perform too many actions too quickly or if there is lag and the actions build up on your side and then go out all at once.

It is annoying that valid actions can sometimes trigger this, but if it was not in place it would make life even easier for bots and hackers and exploiters.

last several days this has been happening to me repeatedly (ps4 na). doesnt matter what I'm doing, it happens several times a day. From fighting in vivec to just standing there in my house doing nothing. It's worse than the freezes.
