The MagSorc/StamSorc Dilemma

My Sorc was originally Magic, cause i love magic. But after deciding to try, and finding the absolute joy of a StamSorc, i've been conflicted. As a StamSorc i have awesome stats. 3.6k damage unbuffed, 4.5k full buffed with decent recovery and nearly 40k stam, not to mention a crit chance in the 60% range. But for all of its powerhouse goodness, it doesn't have that allure of using a Staff, popping Ward, the shock staff's great aoe heavy attacks etc. But as a MagSorc my recovery would be non-existent, and the spell damage at a meager 3.8k fully buffed.

As a PvE MagSorc i feel underperforming, especially since the character is Khajiit and I'm staunchly against changing that. If the Carnage racial also increased Spell Crit then I'd feel a bit less bad about it, but in the end it just feels like im gimping myself to play the way my heart wants. And that's a storm slinging Mage kitty.

Does anyone else have a Khajiit MagSorc? How do you and min/max that? If i went back to magic my gear would be Julianos and Infallible Aether.

Expected an insightful analysis on pros and cons of each spec, especially with how stam sorcs don’t use half of what the class has to offer n how changes would effect them.
Now I expect another remove racials/ buff cats discussion.

Lol you expected an in depth build analysis from the wrong player. Do i look like Alcast?

Honestly Khajiit is probably the worst possible race for PVE Mag sorc.

The only real buff you get out of racials is a bit more access to sprint, block and dodge via stam recovery, since Vampire is pretty optimal on Mag Sorc, and that removed the buffs to health recovery.

VS any actual good spec on Mag Sorc, you are going to be missing sustain, damage and durability, and no matter what you do, you aren't going to make up for that.


Yes you can play what you want, but that doesn't mean what you want to play is optimal, or that it ever will be.

Also, I'll point out that Spell Damage is always going to be lower than weapon damage, since you don't have access to the same damage buffs offered by Medium armour and Fighters Guild skills.

Agreed don’t play mag if you’re a Kahjit unless you care nothing for endgame content and you’re just looking at running overland content and normal dungeons.

Wait till there’s a crown sale and race change if you want. Or just level a new magicka sorc.

I have cleared vet trials on a khajiit magsorc before.
