Magicka Warden PVP

Joeaugusta42b14_ESO
I am new to the magicka warden pvp. I know they got a nerf with summerset, but i still see a lot of people 1vX with them. I currently run 5 necro, 5 shackle 2 pirate skeleton. shock/resto

I am having trouble allocating my CP. It seems like I am not doing enough damage to people. Also I am getting 2-3 shotted pretty frequently.

Anyone here play this class and could offer some advice?

You actually have a pretty solid gear setup. Use shields and stay ranged is probably the best advice I could give you. And you could replace Pirate Skeleton for Ice Heart (more shields and some damage) or Skoria (much more damage). I personally find Pirate to be less useful on characters with shields and the Warden has a ton of shields available.

Are you in 5 Light or 5 Heavy Armor?

    What's your current CP setup?

And what skills do you have on your bars?

    Some initial thoughts on CP:

Get rid of points in Mooncalf and Healthy. They are not needed. Put some of those points into Tumbling and put a few more into Warlord and Tenacity. Get Arcanist to the next jump point.

Remove the points from Blessed and get Elemental expert up to the 70s. Remove the Staff Expert points and put 10 more or so into Master at Arms and the rest into Thaumaturge.

Remove around half of the points in Light armor and put them into bastion. Remove all of the points from quick recovery and split them between Bastion, Ele Defender, Hardy and Ironclad. (I like to run both Hardy and Ele defender at 43 pints for 10% mitigation each and Ironclad around 51-55, or whatever that jump point is, but that is just personal preference). Remove the points from Heavy armor and put them into Think Skinned or Resistant.

Your skill setup isn't bad really. You would actually do more damage running a frost enchant instead of Oblivion because the Warden Passive plus infused will push that damage up a lot. I would front bar Northern storm for the Max Magicka boost and back bar soul assault (or use a defensive ult like tress instead). Also, you can drop inner light and run Fletcher Infection instead for even more damage.

Your gear looks good. Wardens work well with either Light or Heavy, but assuming you're going for damage then Light's the way to go. Shackle + Necro is a standard Magicka stack setup, definitely a good choice if you're starting out on the class. If you're feeling more confident later on, you can always swap the Shacklebreaker with other sets

Pirate Skeleton is a solid choice for a monster set. I used it a while back, when I started out in Battlegrounds, and along with the Northern Storm/Permafrost ultimate it gives you a good uptime on Major Protection, giving you some tankiness :p Another good set that I liked was Malubeth, which is quite lethal against Stamina setups if you're using the Corrupting Pollen skill.

Shock Staff + Resto are good weapons. Run a Weapon/Spell Damage glyph on the Resto, but use smth else on your Shock Staff instead. A Frost Glyph is indeed a good choice.

Skill-wise: move Northern Storm to your front bar and use smth else (like the Resto Staff ulti) on your Resto bar. Get rid of Bird of Prey, it's too much of a Magicka dump. Use Nature's Embrace instead for mobility and extra heals, be sure to stay close to another player then. You might wanna try to find room for Shimmering Shield on your front bar as well, it'll definitely help against ranged builds and it'll give you Major Heroism.

CP Thief: Put the points from Sprinter into Warlord and get rid of the points in Healthy and Mooncalf. You can raise Tenacity a bit, or even put points into Tumbling

CP Mage: Keep Blessed at 11 and remove the points from both Thaumaturge (you could put a few points if you want) and Staff Expert. Raise Master-at-Arms to at least the 72 jump point

CP Warrior: Keep Quick Recovery at 11, raise on Bastion here (I run with 66 Bastion) to increase damage shield strength. The points in Light Armor aren't needed, you can use those to raise Ironclad instead. Give Resistant a good boost too (like 30 or so)
