Is the market dead?

PC-EU, I've been trying to item flipping for a week, and as far as I know nothing but jewelry with intricate trait makes money. Am I doing something wrong, or the market is dead because of last patches? Thanks!

made 3 mil last week without much effort. half a mil so far this week again with little effort. all, barring pre-summerset, jewellery sells well. mats and tempers, motifs and good gear still sell.

edit to add: just a thought, you could have been buying my flip bait lol.

The market's weird. Motifs, mats, and recipes are the name of the game. Some collectable and decorations. Sets are really, REALLY a mixed back. Everybody can farm the same sets from overworld and there's little reason to farm for rare items, especially if you can transmute them.

You just have to know what sells and go looking for them. Or be willing to take a /slight/ loss. Consider that everybody else is selling similar things. Yeah, an item may be worth 7K, and you'll eventually sell it at that, but 6.8K could net you the sale faster. It all depends on what you're trying to sell.

Yeah, my sales have tanked since Summerset. I'm having to drastically slash prices just to move inventory.

On top of what’s said above I’ve had a reasonable amount of success selling CP160 Impen gear. I’m on XBox and I price things aggressively. My Impen usually sells for 999, 1999, 2999 depending on color. It’s not much but I’d otherwise deconstruct it so win.

Food ingredients is another one that sells well.

PC EU and these last two weeks my sales have been almost absent. I don't sell the most sought-after items but very rarely did I get anything returned for not selling, and it was usually a motif which had dropped in price in the meantime. I had one week where I made 250 gold and one where I made 200. I blamed my trading guild for having moved from our regular spot to Alinor, which is not a starter city.

Now I've moved to Rawl'kha and it looks like the sales are just as bad. I don't know what's going on but my inbox is full to capacity with returned emails full of items which I cannot move. I'll probably have to just drop out of all trading guilds and decon everything for a few weeks until things return to normal.

I'm on Xbox NA, but I have actually been selling more than I ever had. I am still new-ish into the trading aspect of the game. Since Summerset launched, I have been making a lot of gold (for me) selling all the jewelry that I find. The jewelry I notice is selling a lot quicker than everything else. I can put up gold, blue and purple jewelry for sale in my guild store, and by the time I am done listing everything and travel to a new zone, I already have a bunch of mail for the items being sold. I'm selling green jewelry for around 1100 gold, blue for around 1500 gold and purple jewelry for around 2000 gold. I honestly don't know what I should be selling them for, but I have made a good chunk of gold since Summerset launched with all the jewelry I have been finding.

Selling motifs go somewhat quick too. with the jewelry, motif pages and certain set items and a few mats, I have made about 200k since Summerset launched (that's a lot for me)

i charge extra for market analysis...

i listed above the stuff i've been selling. you can add to that jewellery mats and alchemy mats (they both go very well) but without knowing precisely what you are trying to sell and, most important, at what price i can't help.

edit to add: platform and server would help too.

One of the issues with the guilds is that a lot of newer players and even some of us older ones haven't a clue how to even utilize them and/or have been scared away by the incredibly high prices.

That may have changed in the last year, but, if you're not social they don't seem to want you in their guilds.

Makes me sad. That and most of us don't have millions to spend, but, still, sad.

With Summerset being out a while now if you are selling anything new from summerset ie style mats, motifs, kitty recipe fragments etc. It would be a good idea to re-evaluate the listing prices in the last 10 days. The prices are dropping fast. The only thing holding high so far for me is certain psijic & pyandonean motifs, I'm still selling for 70k+.

I'm not doing great, but I'm taking in about 100k a day between guild sales and quest dailies bringing in gold.

I'm selling plenty. Right now bait is selling very well.
Inticates are always good sellers same for any cheap gear that has a trait. I sell tons of this stuff as I price it reasonably.
Provisioning mats I sell by the stack and they do well. This stuff is very easy to get you just have to get in the habit of looting everything you come across.
Set gear is pretty meh right now and I don't spend much time going after it.

The motif market fell through the floor with the anniversary event so now everyone is farming the new stuff because its the only thing that reliably sells.....for now. Competition and volume will kill that too in short order.

I think it's because Jewelry is dominating the overall market. The demand for the style motifs and furniture recipes introduced with Summerset was also very low compared to previous DLC/Expansions. This may be because players are spending all of their gold on jewelry items.

It's also possible we're reaching a saturation point with Styles and Furniture. There are so many, players may be fatigued. This may be generally true of all items.

The holiday events don't help either. I think ZOS has effectively trained some players to wait for events before buying. I've been burned more than a few times; like when epic Clockwork Furniture Recipes were selling for 200-900k and then ZOS flooded the market with them via the Dungeon Finder event. It's extremely frustrating when this happens.

Obviously people are playing in Summerset instead of traveling around in the base game or even Vivec. So the popular trading cities aren't popular whille everyone is parked in Summerset.

If you are just questing you have no need of powerful sets you can quest in a paper bag.

I have also made no sales but that's because my trade guild can't win a damn trader

Well tbh this last week its felt a lot quieter in game maybe the summerset masses are leaving again, servers are at their worst, PvP is unplayable for many, maybe the latest DLC isn't holding the population like it should..

    Less customers = less sales.
